I don't know what's more egregious, 5k for off-the-shelf mainstream frames or 2k for unknown Chinese frames.

It's a good question! I would need to counterweight if i need to import on myself or if it's shipped with prepaid tax.
If i order and get the taxing on my own, according to customs, i get to pay more with tariffs incuded. When i buy prepaid, it is way cheaper for some reason (i only pay VAT (25%).
A full bike is 40% and components is 30% according to custom department. But if i order wheels they claim i have a third world tax on top of VAT. Third world tax is 47.5%.
It's quite bizarre. You see the conflicting info!?

So a rolling chassis costing 3000-4000 Euro is a gamble as i am really not sure what precise amount i'm forced to pay. If i oppose this outcome, my complaints must be sent to EU commission! It's just idiotic even to believe they would care for a private persons case.
I guess you in USA and some other countries have a lower tax!?
Oh, if custom department find a receipt price fishy, they want a receipt from you bank account.
That happened to a guy overhere.

I'm not in the USA. Here in Korea it would be an extra 20% tax, though. Just had to pay that on my Canyon even though it was ordered from Canyon KR, because it shipped from Germany

In Italy it would be Vat + Duty tax and it could arrive up to 40/45% of actual value, so it wouldn't be tempting.

No duty on carbon fibre frames from China. Only complete bikes. It's just VAT.

Unless something's changed it should be for complete bikes rather than frames. There may be one for steel / alu though as that's what the duty really targets.

Likely very long. First batch was 100 frames and 3 months late. Next one expected to take longer to complete, and of same size.

Hi, This is Jonathan from Cycling100. In answer to some of the questions raised if we have stock of the frame we can ship after the national holidays in China. This is by air freight using UPS, DHL, FEDEX etc. I would agree that the duties and taxes are one of the most difficult to handle and so far we have not found a logistics partner yet who can do this - but I want to resolve but I dont think it will be a quick solution unless anyone here knows a route. On the warranty front - the frame is a lifetime, forks are 3 years and the handlebars are 2 years plus it is UCI certified. Finally I know the geometry has caused the most questions (from our email inbox) but if you have any questions then please contact me and I will help or ask SEKA (who's founder has a background in bike fitting). And one more thing - the frame is made in factory which manufacturers for a current world tour team - but then I know many can say that!
