Cube Litening. Either with Ultegra Di2 or Force AXS. Both are under 5000 and come with carbon wheels.
Looks are obvouisly personal, but its the most bang for the buck you can get...

I did this research a few weeks ago before I stumbled on a Systemsix for a price I just couldn't turn down. Based on my fit and type of riding I had the Cube Litening C68X Ultegra DI2 on the top of my list.

Custom steel frame and whatever components you can buy for the rest of the money
And that is where Rodriguez can custom build an Outlaw for only $250 more than their off the shelf models and still be around 13.5 pounds of steel frame and all the components and wheels included in the weight.

I'd usually suggest something like this but the scarcity of componants make this very tricky right now.

A bit boring but £4,200 gets you a Giant TCR Advanced Pro Disc 1. That'd leave enough money left over to change items as you see fit such as the tyres or saddle. Switching the tyres to Schwalbe Pro one TLE's for example would save you over 200 grams.
Completely agree. Hard to overlook Giant at the moment. TCR advanced Pro 0 or 1 and upgrade parts to £5k. If it fits you. They're not the bargain they once were but best option for quality, availability, aftersales support for 'sensible' money. I mean you wouldn't touch Canyon at the moment for obvious reasons, Specialised/ Trek poorer value in comparison. Maybe Merida might be worth a shout but the TCR would be lighter I guess.

I have just built up a new bike from a frameset deal (a Liv, for my other half) and honestly haven't saved much in the end given the supply issue of components keeping prices high. Quality of build and paint finish is sublime.
+1 for Giant. But yeah, it's "boring". It's the Toyota of bicycles. Good value is always boring. Exposed cables are boring. Also, they don't have high profile sponsorships and big marketing presence. So boring...
