5 reasons not to buy RC902 shimano shoe

hello I want to share this after test a week the New shimano shoes RC902

1. The surface is easily scratched, not good, I thing is a very short life span
2. Toe Pain during the riding
3. Not comfortable.
4. Not easy to wash and hard to clean.
5. Price are not good, and for second hand selling only half price

Those scratches have been cause by a crash, that's not from regular riding!

As for the toe pain, i have 4 pairs of RC901 and 1 pair of RC902 and they are indeed shallower at the toebox. What i did was to get a slightly slimmer insole (stock ones are quite thick) and i was all good!

your right it was a stop and fall, but with another shoes same stop and fall and never happen this scratch.
and for the toebox, I prefer DKiller, or Crono Cr1, it is perfect fit and never pain during the riding.

I've been using the white version 902 for over 20k km now and they're basically looking like new. Also very easy to clean. After riding in dirty conditions, just rinse them and they're good to go as the material doesn't stain.
Prices are fine. Most times available for 220-250€.

Fit obviously is a very personal thing.

If you want toughness buy SIDI, they usually make long lasting bike shoes.

Also shoes with tough heel cups are worth having to increase toughness.

I was crashed out of a crit in a pair of RC902s and the outer edge of the forefoot did get cut open completely. However it was a rough crash and the corner marshal was shocked when I told him I was going to take my free lap. The soft wrap-around upper material on the bottom of the shoe will of course get chewed up over time as well, but so do all outsoles. Who cares?

The RC902s are very comfy and there is some palpable difference in my pedaling when using them vs other shoes. It could be the stiffness of the outsole or the stack height or both.

Shoes are as personal as bibs! Have you ever googled how many different types of feet there are? If you buy your shoes at a local shop you would know before you leave that the tow box was not right for you. I have ordered shoes online but they were a model I was familiar with, and it fit!

Definitely prefer the 901s to my 902s.
Only using them on the trainer hoping they will give a little.
Can't believe they changed the fit, should have left well alone as the 901s are perfect.
To be honest my left foot feels good but my right feels cramped.

So you wrecked your shoes by crashing in them, and you blame the shoes. Okay ...

as a somewhat general rule, shoes that are lightweight and stiff in the right places tend to expensive, and not built to withstand hard crashes. If you crashed a pair of S Works road shoes that hard, I think you'd find similar damage. maybe the only difference is that Spec doesn't paint their heel cups, so scratches aren't as apparent.
