Hmmm. Where I used to live in the UK, I'd never ride with headphones. Narrow lanes, blind spots, impatient drivers, ridiculous speed limits (that people didn't follow. Knowing that someone was approaching, how fast they were going etc etc was Important Information.
These days, I can do 100km and only see half a dozen cars. Mostly on quiet country lanes with good sightlines, sensible speed limits and courteous drivers... The cycle tracks actually work too.

Plantronics BackBeat Fit 2100 paired with Varia. Use them for the gym as well, although they are better suited for running or cycling. I can hear everything I need to hear, and I have a habit of checking over the shoulder pretty frequently. What's more, headphones remind me to check often and not rely on Varia completely. I ride in and around South London, UK.
It's NEVER safe, not for you and not for other's! Please don't.....

I'm more than happy with my Powerbeats Pro! For cycling I just keep the left one at home.

Everyone should be aware that in almost all countries that if you have taken out bike accident insurance that it will normally be invalid if you have been found to be wearing headphones. Likewise, if in an accident involving a car or other vehicle, it is unlikely that their insurance would pay out if headphones are worn.

No, they do not. If I'm going downhill I'll just pause whatever I'm listening to (pause button on the side of the headset).
Overall I love Aftershokz. I have some Airs (mini usb port) and now I also have an Openmove model. I actually like the Openmoves a little better and the usb-c charger is an improvement IMO.
These are great, I have been using them for years.

AirPod Pro with Comply Comfy tip otherwise the AirPod falls out on descents.
I wear right ear only, and listen to traffic in the left ear.

I wear my Plantronics Voyager 3200 (single ear only) on most of my rides. Not for music but for phone calls.
Have a job where I do need to be available at all hours in an emergency situation.
Gotten used to it and seems normal to me to have it on.. Even though I get some good natured ribbing.
