Which earphones for road cycling?
Moderator: robbosmans
I have the Jaybird Tarah Pro's. They're wired together and have a clip at the back, so no worries about a single bud falling out on a ride like many of my friends with Apple Airpod's and other non-connected ear buds.

Use only in the right environment. (Such as never in a group or high traffic ) - I used to use wired so I felt confident I wouldn't lose one. Right ear only so one unused,,,,,,
Now I use mpow with blue tooth using bud in right ear only. So charge a set and get double the use time. To eleveate fears of it suddenly popping out I down sized to smaller silicone tips and give the bud a solid 1/2 turn to "screw it" solidly into my ear.
I am much happy to have lost the wires.

Easy answer if you ask me:

I got a pair of Airs.
What I like is that you still can hear things going on in your surroundings, yet at the same time your music is clear.

I have the Bose Sport wireless, never remotely close to falling out. I was going to get the Airpods pro but read mixed reviews on how well they stay in. I use mine on quiet roads out in the hills but I have the Garmin Radar so I don't get surprised by anything coming from behind.
I loved mine too, road and mtb... until they went through the wash in my shortsbas wrote:I have the Bose Sport wireless, never remotely close to falling out. I only ever use earphones on car-free bike trails. I don't trust my airpod pros to stay in my ears so I instead use my Bose SoundSport (wired) earphones. They don't sit inside the ear canal so I can still hear outside sounds, and they have a little protrusion that tucks under the cartilage so they never ever pop out.
I don't believe they are sold anymore but the wireless version (the earbuds are still wired together) should be just as good.

Airpods 2, most of the time in both ears when safe, low volume, or only right ear. To compensate battery life I am using left headphone for listening podcasts before sleep.
Qcy q26 as in ear mono headphone, good deal too.
Disclaimer : I always use varia radar on road. I suggest you do too.

I use Sennheiser MOMENTUM earphones. They have best of class sound and seal decently enough to eliminate most wind noice but also have a transparent hearing mode until you are out of the city. In my experience you can't really expect to take a call on the bike though. The mic is simply to far away from your mouth and there is too much wind.
I use them with Penon Audio CP360 eartips. The stock tips aren't bad but these are quite an upgrade in terms of comfort.
I'm super happy with my Sennheisers. If my pair broke I would imidiately purchase a new pair.

I use a helmet with earpieces built in - Coros Safesound:
This allows you to hear the music out of a speaker retaining ambient noise without the use of bone conduction which I didn't love the idea of. It also has some additional benefits: (i) cleaner solution (I think) (ii) additional light built into helmet (iii) it comes with remote pad which you can attach to your handlebars to easily change tracks.
The only real issue is that if the track is soft and the ambient noise is very loud (e.g. busy road) it can be hard to hear. Music is fine but I listen exclusively to podcasts and if the voices are soft this can be an issue. Overall though its not too much of an issue - I haven't considered switching to earphones or bone conduction ones.

Not a huge fan of the Jabra Elite 75t in general, but for cycling they were brilliant.
Got the B&W PI7 now. They are a lot better in general, but for cycling they aren't very good. Noise cancling is quite useless and the natural seal you get with the Jabras just isn't there.
Kind of waiting for new Jabras for cycling. I think the 75ts can be found fairly cheaply I guess now so not a bad buy.
