Custom Road Shoe Insole Source

Does anyone know of a company that makes custom insoles for road bike shoes? Looking for something with more support at the base of the metatarsals. I'm getting pain/cramping towards the outside middle of my feet on long rides.

Many Specialized/Body Geometry fitters have custom footbed machines, but who knows how well trained the fitters are at using them.

I use fully custom footbeds because some of the pricier off-the-shelf options like G8s and the top level Solestars cost just as much. Otherwise I’d probably just stick with Specialized Body Geometry or Bontrager/Superfeet insoles. The Specialized insoles have a 1cm forward located arch and a small metatarsal bump. The Bontragers do not have the metatarsal bump. The Specialized insoles are also lighter than anything else, but that means they won’t last as long either.

I went the oposite way.. I use off the cheap shelf insoles (dr scholl's sport) and a mid thick wool sock (defeet Woolie Boolie).. it's solved all my shoe foot issues.. I can replace the the insoles every year when the materials break down and the wool socks add just a little padding and year round temp managment : )

I have high arches and wore G8s for the past year...they helped a lot but I continued to get hot spots after long rides.

I very recently purchased both the high arch footbeds from Specialized and Bontrager and have been really happy with them. They are very similar...I did a 120m and 100m ride last week and felt well supported and no more hot spots.

I just took a look at the Lintaman web site, their insoles and shoes look interesting. Please post a review on your insoles after you have had an opportunity to get them molded to your feet, very curious!

make your own out of fibreglass. It'll cost you about $100 and be way better than any of the flimsy crap aftermarket insoles. PM me if you want instructions.

I've used them for almost 8 months now. Takes a few rides to get the arch support where you want it to be and for the the insoles to "mold" to your feet. I'm very happy with them, no feet issues. They feel more supportive than the giro supernatural fit kit I had in my previous shoes.
I'm using them in my velokicks blanco dials shoes.

Has anyone tried the Specialized/Retul custom insoles made at some Specialized dealers? I checked out the form used to make them and the process, I liked the amount of cushion the form had in the forefoot. For $150 for a custom made cycling insole, if some properly, could be a winner. The Sidas custom insoles look somewhat similar, but I believe a metatarsal bump can be molded in, don't think that can be done with the Specialized forms. They run about $180. Both appear to be good options to have custom insoles made for you in store. Decisions, decisions...
