Deda Alanera or Deda Superleggero?

Hi all!

I currently ride a Colnago C64 with Deda Superzero stem and handlebar. Iam thinking of upgrading to either Alanera or Superleggero. Which one should I choose considering weight, looks, i.e? Is the Alanera even lighter than the Superzero or does it weigh more? Any people who had both or all 3 of these? How much weight in grams can I save you think? Please let me know!

Superleggero stem is quite noodly, so if you take Superzero stem and Superleggero bars you won't save much compared to Alanera, but Alanera is much stiffer. Racers take Alanera. If its shape suits you, go for it.

I've had superleggero stem and bars, superzero stem and bars, and alenera on my C64. The superleggero stem transformed the handling - in a bad way. 'Noodle' is an apt description, as hannawald points out. Superzero is fine, and the aesthetics are not too bad if you take the logos off the stem. Alenera is confidence-inspiring in terms of stiffness and (in my experience) the best in terms of vibration damping... and looks just right on the C64. Weights are all as claimed by Deda.

Thanka for your answers! I heard some comments on FB too that the spacers on the Alanera are not so good looking on the C64..Is that right?

I found the combo of Superzero stem and Superleggero bars worked really well for me. I'm a big fan of the shape of the bars and the stem is stiff if a bit weighty for WWs.

Don't think the Alanera looks good on a "classic" geometry such as the C64, but looks fantastic on other bikes. I have the Sueperleggero bars on my Specialissima and it is superb. Would never get the Superleggero stem however.

I run a good combination of the Superleggera bars with a Zero 100 stem as this is a fair few grams lighter than the portly Superzero but stiff and a nice, classical round shape

I’m thinking about buying one but I’m not sure if it will look nice on bike.

Three things I noticed: 1. Under heavy braking downhill the stem flexes down - which I found a little disconcerting. 2. At speed down hill, I found myself gripping tightly because the lack of tortional stiffness in the stem translated to movement of the bars... again, a little disconcerting. 3. Out of saddle efforts led to noticeable bar movement. If you are a very confident rider - which I am not - then you might not be concerned by these small issues. Regarding the match of the (necessary) spacer under the bars, I found that a little bit of work with a sander allowed a perfect interface.
