Hi @all,

i would like to upgrade my bike by installing an electronic groupset. Currently i am using Shimano R7000 groupset with an Ultegra R8000 Powermeter crankset.
My group of choice would be a Sram Force AXS but i would like to stick with my Ultegra PM.

Can i just swap all components and use my current crankset with the Sram flattop chain? Or are there somewhere chainrings available which are AXS compatible? I looked for Wolftooth, Garbaruk, Carbon-TI and some more without any hits.

SRAM and anyone making chainrings would say no. Some people here would say yes. I haven't tried so can't make any promises either way.

Rotor makes 2x chainrings which claim to be AXS compatible and fit Shimano's assymetric 4-bolt 110 BCD:

Thanks. But man - those rings are ugly if mounted to a R8000 crankset I suppose. Maybe someone else knows a manufacturer of different rings?

I would say carry on it would make no difference at all,i run axs 12 speed chain on my surper record 12 speed and its flawless and quiet compared to the campag one.
You could also try it and if it works happy days if not then buy rings.
Colnago arabesque campagnolo super record 12

There are very few chainring manufacturers making rings explicitly claimed to be 2x AXS road/flattop compatible. The only other option I can remember seeing for Shimano 4-bolt 110 BCD is from Carbon-Ti, but those are stupid expensive:

https://www.carbon-ti.com/products/chai ... chainrings

Praxis makes compatible rings but only for standard/symmetric 5-bolt 110 BCD:

You definitely are not going to find anyone making rings with a shaped outer shell to give the same seamless look as original Shimano rings. The best you can do is the Rotor, Carbon-Ti or similar flat rings with shaped caps to smooth out the transition.

Try the shimano rings first. Shimano grx 11 speed cranks work perfectly on both of my force axs drivetrains.
Unless the rings are 50/34, you'll have an outrageously large top gear.

Thanks. That helps a lot. If your setup works well mine should also work as it is the same type of teeth. Do you run 1x or 2x at the front?
Currently i am using 50/34 but to use the smaller part of my cassette more often i think about changing to 46/34.

I have used 46/30 and 48/31 grx cranks. Using a 46/34 is not wise. The 34 is timed to shift properly with the 50. Chain drops may occur.

I compared the timing on a grx 31 to a 30 and it's about half a tooth different.

Thanks. By doing so i can go on using my Ultegra PM and therefore cut the additional cost significantly. If only the Force Cassette was available in silver.

the force cassettes in silver are in production. It may take awhile until they reach resalers.

R8000 chainrings, Force AXS groupset.
What chain to go with it?
I may even favor Ultegra R8100 cassette, 12sp, but Shima l 12s chain won't fit R8000 chainrings.
Maybe SRAM non AXS chain? MTB, GX or similar.

Thanks

12s Shimano chain will run fine on R8000 rings.
can't comment on the rest.

Didn't know that. 12s chain is to tight for 11s cassettes. I guessed it is same for R8000 rings. Guess i'm wrong, thanks

I ran Quarq DFour91 Shimano 11sp 50/34 chainrings with Rival FD, Force RD, Rival 10-30 cassette and Flat Top Chain without issue. I had a Force 48/35 crankset and with precise setup would still get an occasional chain throw. Never threw or dropped a chain on the Shimano rings. I have since switched to a Power2Max 110 4 bolt Praxis carbon arms with Rotor 48/35 round chainrings and it also performs just as well and rides bit quiter than the Shimano rings. I switched for aesthetic reasons only.

The Shimano 12s chain runs fine on Shimano 11s cassettes as well - most report it's even quieter than an 11s chain. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=159526
