Roubaix 2020 - Which last upgrade ?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hello All,
I started with a Roubaix comp weighing 8.6 kg to this setup (7.2kg - without garmin + mount).
I upgraded:
Wheels
Handle Bar
Crank + Chainring (I tried the extra lite one but they shift so bad so ended up with Carbon TI)
Chain
Saddle
Carbon bottle cage
Full Titanium Screws
Titanium Speed Plays
Tubolito
Durace Disk Rotor
Cassette Durace 11-30T
I am wondering what you think I could swap next?
Seems like my last options are changing the caliper + durace front derailleur + durace shifters + carbon seat post (darimo is 82 grams vs 202 for the specialized Pave) + replace bar ends + light bar grip. Also would replacing through-axle could save some weight?
However, I am worried that the darimo will make the ride very uncomfortable...
What is your opinion, am I missing any potential further upgrade?
According to my calculation replacing this will allow me to reach 6.95KG.
Thanks

Carbon ti thru axles and discs 6bolt with Ashima converters, 140mm, will be lightest, replace the stock bolts that hold the callipers together with titanium, replace the water bottle cage bolts with aluminium or carbon. Lighter computer?

The Darimo seat post is great. I had the T1 Loop on the Roubaix Team and it wasn't a notable comfort impairment IMO.bleko wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 4:44 pmHello All,

My roubaix team has a 12x100 mm front thru axle and a 12x142 mm rear thru axle.
Check out J&L (back ordered like everything else these days) or Aserra if you want very lightweight.

Agree lots of weight saving potential right thereChiZ01 wrote:those vision bars are heavy and looks really out of place on top of the futureshock
I agree but checked all of them and only the vision is stiff enough and has integrated cable routing.robbosmans wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:09 amAgree lots of weight saving potential right thereChiZ01 wrote:those vision bars are heavy and looks really out of place on top of the futureshock

If the bar is staying then others areas are the saddle (which I assume you like given how much it costs) and the brake calipers could be switched for Trickstuff but you'd only be looking at 40gms of savings
The darimo post is certainly the most bang for you buck at this stage
