I don’t think the Factor Techlace will work for you. The upper is much stiffer and thicker. It conforms less to your foot shape and is effectively narrower.

I also caution against the newer Imperial and Empire SLX. The upper is similar to the Prolight Techlace, but they reinforced it and there’s also more padding in the heel. It may or may not work for you…they definitely don’t have quite the same bedroom slippers feel as the Prolights.
Thanks, that saves me a lot of hassle. Although I might still try the Imperials from Wiggle since I don't have to worry about issues with returns. I'm just worried about using the Prolights too much because of the reported issue with the heel lug falling of. That's why I like the Imperials for their replacapble lugs.

S-Works Ares are not so narrow as you describe.
As an owner of several Specialized road shoes, I have found them their standard form, not wider, maybe a very very little from S-Works 7 e.g....
I don't know. I tried the S works 7 and the Ares seem very narrow at least in the midfoot area compared to them. The forefoot is too narrow for me in both of those. They are definitely not for people with wide feet though.

Not being Biased here, I do work for the UK Distro of Lake and formany years Ive put of buying because I didny like the shape. But after many years spending lot of money on Sidis, foot pain and loss of circulation I bit the bullet and got some. For my feet type, wide ish, hiagh arch we went CX238 (with insoles) and I was fortunate to get them fitted by the owner and oh what joy they are, like slippers. Do go and get them fitted properly, if you choose the mouldable models.

As I wrote in the S phyre thread. Just ordered a pair of 902 in 44 wide. I know I have been told to stay away but I couldn't help myself. I did try the regular version in a store yesterday and based on that I'm thinking that the wide version might fit. I tried a wide in 43 and the width seemed the same as 44 regular. Most importantly, the midfoot area was not as narrow as I thought. If these don't work, I'll try the Imperials next.

By the way, I finally put cleats on my CX201 and they felt pretty good. The heel is obviously very wide but I'm thinking that won't be an issue on longer easier rides.

I'll try the 241 a few more times but I'm 99% sure I'm gonna sell them on.

So I have conclude that the 241 don't work, which is a shame since the upper fit perfectly. The built in arch is the problem for my foot issue.

The 902 wide have gone back. I never put cleats on them as I wanted to wait for the Imperials to arrive and determine which fit better. I was trying to convince myself that the 902 are gonna work but that was never the case. They are just too narrow in the toebox.

So that leaves the Imperials, which I have ridden a few times so far and they have been very good. As @TobinHatesYou mentioned, you can definitely tell that the material is more sturdy than the Prolights, but the fit and feel is similar. They actually feel even more roomy than the Prolights when you put your foot in without tightening them.

I gor cx403 regular and will have to return them as well. Wanted to try them since only regular is available with speedplay specific sole. Now that I'm out of options for this specific sole I'm thinking I'll try Bomt Vaypor S. Their sizing suggest regular model for 105 & 107 wide feet. Does anyone have any experience?

I got the RC 701 Wide yesterday and they fit terribly. I have to take back what I said about wider soles maybe not being that important if there is extra upper material. My little toe is extremely pinched in these shoes and they are just generally too narrow.

The strange thing about it is that they actually measure 103mm at their widest points. Which is wider than any other shoe I've tried, except for the CX201. I'm guessing the issue is that the material is pretty thick, so there isn't that much space inside. Especially at the front of the shoe. The sole is extremely narrow in the midfoot area as well.

If I have no issue with RC701 wide, do you think I will do ok with the same size for RC902?

The 902 wide measure about 95mm at the widest points and the 701 wide 103mm, so yeah they are quite a bit narrower. The 701 pinched my little toes for some reason.

The giros actually look quite wide from the sole view.

What is the measurements and how do they compare to the others you have tried for your foot pain?

I had a pair of the Bont Vaypor S in standard sz44 and my largest foot measures out at 276 by 110mm and they were okay length wise but for width just to narrow for me.

Bont shoes are not nearly as wide as Lake. I have a pair of Bont Vaypor S in 44 Wide.
I can barely squeeze my fit into them even after all the heat moulding I have done.
My feet are 270/108mm.

Another problem of the Bont shoes is the bathtub construction.
It does not allow for any foot expansion that occurs during riding.
This makes them ultra uncomfortable on a longer ride for me.
But it is true, that the feeling of the carbon shell wrapping around your feet is just awesome, if you can make them fit.

If you go the Bont way, I would from my experience with them suggest buying at least half a size larger shoe, as it would be much easier to mould it to a smaller size, then to "expand" the shoe that is too narrow.
Also the cleat mounting points on the Bont are considerably more to the back of the shoe compared to other shoes that I have used.

I now use Lake CX238 44 wide, they are not perfect, heel grip is not as tight as I would like, but they are very comformtable on longer rides.

In the case of Lake's cx403 its the same I guess, as you say - bathtub construction. I bought 45.5 for 284 and 276 long feet. Length wise they are fine, but width not that much for the bigger foot. Smaller one is ok. Did not heat mould them though since I cannot return them if I do.

As far as I read I thought Bonts have more toe space. I will go to the local store selling them today to get my feet measured and see from there.

I really like cx403's though, they are really stiff, nicely constructed, good looking. Too bad the fit is not perfect :/

Toe space in terms of width is OK in Bonts, but the volume of the toebox is not high.
So if you have "high volume" feet, I would not recommend them.

Got my feet measured today and waiting for a suggestion on the size and model from them. Luckily I don't have high volume feet, just wide and with large difference in length. Still tempted to heat mold cx403s I have to see whether they would widen so much that they would fit.

Is it the same for Lake as with Bont? The lady said that when heated again they return to original form?
