Hello All,

I got a specialized evade ii few days ago, in white color, and It make me look like a mushroom lol...

I found a buyer and need to find a new one... Also white was a bad color choice with a black bike, all black is definitely the way to go in my eyes.

Would you have any reco for a good looking fairly light and aero helmet ? it seems to me the Kask Protone is way better looking.

Would you have any recommendation maybe of other helmets that are not mushroom looking while being aero and light?

Update : I received my new helmet, photos here : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=166001&p=1669377#p1669377

Thanks

Find the smallest helmet that fits your head and it will be light and not mushroomish. I usually wear a large but have found a few mediums in just the right shape to fit my head like a glove.

I’m an Evade user and I also like it.
Maybe look into MET helmets? The Trenta is the climbing helmet Pogacar uses and they also just released a new version of the Manta aero helmet (but it looks similar to the Evade).

Concerning the color: I wouldn’t recommend a black helmet. I once had a black Evade and I was kind of paranoid that cars wouldn’t see me :D.
Get something more visible (white, orange, yellow, light grey). A white helmet for example fits great to white shoes and a black bike.

Thanks for your suggestions mate. I am not sure if the manta would fit me this is the issue... but it looks nice from the photos!

I posted some pictures above, you think I should size up or it's my head shape problem ?

Looking at the head on pic, it actually looks quite good (shapewise), the side pic is a bit out of focus but that's the shape of the helmet... maybe you just didn't liked the white colour...

I noticed some of my riding buddies look quite sleek in the Abus Game Changer, but its heavier than the Evade.

Last case scenario i actually agree with Lelandjt, a helmet where you could size down would avoid the mushroom head.

I just gave up on that department, i already leave home in tight lycra and clacky shoes, so a dorky helmet doesn't bother me anymore, specially if they're black mate... i wear a Abus Airbreaker BTW, it looks quite smaller (outside) than my Giro's used to.

Never ever going to buy a black helmet again. Soaks up the heat and feel much hotter in summer conditions. I think the evade looks good on you and you get free speed too. I have the utopia and like it thus far.

The absolute worst looking helmets on the market are POC. Terrible.

But for best, probably the Giro Aether. Head and shoulders above most anything else out there.

And I second finding a helmet that's the smallest you can get away with. I'm right at 55cm so Giro is a touch small so generally go with a small in Kask because theirs goes up to 56cm. Still tight. but if I went with a medium in a Giro it's far too large and looks almost as bad as wearing a GoPro on top of your helmet. That's about the dumbest look out there.

Evade 2 looks good on you. I picked up an Evade 2 and Lazer G1 this week and am happy with both.

Had a Giro Aether but sold it as I felt it was a mushroom on me.

MET might be a good option. I would have bought one but hard to find in Canada.

It might look better with sun glasses on ?? But yes that does look like a mushroom head. Sorry.
I have the Abus GameChanger and it works for me. Does not look like a mushroom at all on my head. Wanted white but none in my size so went with silver. Glad I did...silver is sweet looking.

Honestly I think the Evade looks good on you and it's supposed to look like that.

Well-fitted race jersey or 1-piece will complete the look. You will look fast simply standing there.
