My guess is that Campagnolo will eventually release the WTO Ultra in a rim brake model. Although disc brakes have dominated sales recently, rim brakes are not completely dead.......yet.

In a change of subject, are there any rumors re: new Campagnolo road products? We know that the wireless or semi-wireless successor to EPS is in the works, for example, and many patents for new derailleur designs have been submitted over tha last couple of years. Given that Campy has a clear hit with a bold new product I would imagine a lot of development will be focused on all things 'Ekar', but we should still see plenty of new road products rolling out, as it were.

A close ratio 12 speed cassette would be cool.

A lighter 12 speed cassette would be nice too, but afraid of the retail price.

Have you tried the Recon/Edco monoblock cassettes? Significantly lighter than Super Record (11-29: 83 g) and they run more silent. The gold-coloured Titanium-Nitride coated version (Recon) does not attract dirt and grease. So far only 11-29, 12-29 and 11-32 available but an 11-34 is in the pipeline.

What's the wear time on those? I've just had to replace my first SR cassette (after very few kms I think, there's a bit of uncertainty because this was on a demo bike), because when I changed my chain it was skipping in the 17 (?). I've now put a chorus on to see how long that lasts.

I wonder if the road groups will all change over to the 'Pro tech' bottom bracket standard introduced w Ekar.

It's an improvement, so hopefully.

Someone mentioned 10.000km, can't remember who/where it was.

I had to change mine after 7000kms, but it was mostly due to riding it for too long with a worn chain. 10.000km sounds very doable with proper chain management.

I really love mines, the price/weight/shifting-quality/silence combo is optimal. I just put to new ones on two of my bikes, and I wouldn't consider anything else anymore.

You can make your own with a miche supertype cassette and 1.5mm spacers.
It seems I have got a 12-27T cassette to work.
Gearing is 12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,21,23,25,27.
First test ride coming soon, any day now.
Just waiting on one part to arrive in the post. :|

12-23 straight block was a lot harder, it fits on the freehub splines, but there is hardly any room between inner cage plate and spokes.
Other than that you might try an 11-25T. It really depends on your wheels.
vertebrae | Precision braking and shifting.
vayakora | Eco mouse mats: silk, linen, cotton, ramie, bamboo, etc.

I understand the spacers but there are no spacers between starting cog and the next one. how dit you fix this?

It (the 1st position 11 speed cog) is close enough that it works*.
Or you can grind it down 0.1mm or whatever (like to the edge of the chamfer).
I'll only commit to doing that myself once I've ridden it a few hundred metres however.
I realise it's a bit, how should I say, dodgey, but I'd rather do that than opt for the campy 12 speed cassette. Which is a bit of a pig.

* Or at least it does on my makeshift workstand.

I just purchased two Miche 12 speed cassettes. 14/29 and 16/29. Pairing them up with my 55/42. Still waiting for my EPS12 groupset to arrive at Branford Bike.

Maybe I should purchase a Miche 11 speed and start playing around.
