What is consensus about the quality of Ribble? Don`t really know anything about them, are they on the level of the big brands?FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:56 amNew Ribble Ultra looks aero AF. I like!

They outsource their production to the Far East and QC is meant to be questionable... bearing in mind the level of sponsorship they offer and their tie in with Wattshop surely it is about time they owned their own factory like Giant and Factor?

They outsource production to the 'Far East' like every other composite frame manufacturer because they are the best at such fabrication.CustomMetal wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:10 pmThey outsource their production to the Far East and QC is meant to be questionable... bearing in mind the level of sponsorship they offer and their tie in with Wattshop surely it is about time they owned their own factory like Giant and Factor?
Why do they need to own their own factory? Very few big name brands do and it is un-necessary.

While I understand the point, Ribble would be hard pressed to match the manufacturing capacity of Giant, which in addition to supplying for its own brand, also makes frames for a considerable portion of the cycling industry!CustomMetal wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:10 pmsurely it is about time they owned their own factory like Giant and Factor?

I haven't heard much about the build quality or QC on their frames - in fact almost nothing except that the steel welding tends to be decent.
My suspicion is that it's probably not great on carbon, given that what I have heard through the grapevine is that their assembly is frequently very bad (i.e. cable routing *f##k*, things massively under or over torqued, no carbon paste, missing grease, chain wrong length etc) ... which happens on-shore in the UK. If they can't control that or do it decently, it's very unlikely they're interested in or are able to control what goes on at the CM off-shore. But I hear exactly the same about Wiggle/Vitus and other similar UK brands, and in my experience, anything assembled by Wiggle is an absolute disaster ... but there don't seem to be too many horror stories re: Vitus' open mould carbon stuff, so bad assembly doesn't necessarily mean similar QC / build quality.

It looks like that for all of Ribble. I was looking at one of their steel frames and same ETA which sucks as I won't even be in this country come April so I guess that means buy elsewhere...

Why would new bikes be announced when Shimano unveils groupsets? I would assume new framesets/ bikes aren't announced if a company can't supply.
I also think some bikes and components are held off completely untill the bike industry is more reliable.
Bikes:
Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)
Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

Interesting: SuperSix SE seems same as SuperX?Addict15 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 5:01 pmNew cannondale CX and SE are out:

Canondale have reduced number of sizes (that's a pity) and bikes are now smaller (at least in size 54).
