Still nobody here has a credible source for the reason why they use rim. (overall performance statment is a nice troll)
So we dont know and probalby never will. Get over it
Well, easier to build a bike that hits the 6,8kg mark, no matter the size. That, and way easier to work on. Changing a wheel on the road and getting the brakes perfect is really hard with disc brakes. The marginal gains philosophy goes not just goes into making the bike go faster. The less time they will have to stop roadside when having a puncture, the likelyhood of victory will increase.

Haven't Team Ineos told us multiple times that they use rim brakes pretty much because it's (if slightly) faster to swap wheels?

Faster and the risk of brakes rubbing is pretty much non existent.

I see discs
And?

The one they use in promos doesn't have to say anything about the one they'll use. Carapaz has already been racing the rim version.
Can't wait for them to use discs, maybe after they lose Tdf.
Why does it matter to you?

Not a judgement, just curious.

if in 2022 Ineos uses discs, it will be due to "pressures" from the brands....
I doubt there's any pressure from Pinarello, they should be nothing but overjoyed by the results of the Sky/Ineos partnership. People see the F12 winning day in and day out and they go and buy the F12. The fact that it's an F12 rim winning and an F12 disc that they buy just doesn't matter.

And let's face it, the partnership is more importat to Pinarello than it is to Ineos. Ineos could get bikes from anyone and still win, Pinarello can't get guaranteed success on tap from any other team. Probably the most important part of the partnership to Ineos is that they get to dictate a certain amount to Pinarello what they want to get from their bikes, from TT bike design to GC aero bikes to rim brakes.

No just looking forward to it.
Why does it matter to you if the pro peloton will all be on discs? Surely it will come

It doesn't matter to me. That's why I'm curious why it matters to you.

Not really...
Dude. You said you 'can't wait for them to use discs' and that you're 'looking forward to it.'

Why can't you wait for them to use discs and why are you looking forward to them using discs? It's a straightforward question, just curiosity, no judgement.

From my local Pinarello dealer, the new model is simply called "F" and supposedly drops 200 grams from the F12. How accurate that information is is hard to tell, but they're a high end dealer and usually pretty well connected.

"Pinarello F"

lmao

Edit: I suppose if they're keeping the 'Dogma' it doesn't sound quite so awful. But if they're dropping 200g then they're breaking their own dogma rather..

Not sure why that sounds so offensive. It's just a bike name. Tough crowd.

Looks like some of you upset because they won't use disc brakes.

Did you watch that rainy descent where they decreased the time gap vs the breakaway group which has disc brakes? I mean if it's not even a disadvantage during a long wet technical descent why would they switch to discs. Looks like their rim brakes works as well as discs.

If their claimed unpainted weights are accurate, they should be able to save 200g with a lighter paint process. It seems to be the source of extra weight.
