12 speed Campy crank with 11 speed drivetrain?
Moderator: robbosmans
Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere but this pertains to a powermeter.
I'd like to get a Power2Max Campagnolo powermeter, and I'm wondering if I get it with the 12 speed chainrings if this will cause problems with my existing 11 speed drivetrain and parts.
I do not plan on upgrading to 12 speed anytime soon, but a powermeter is a pricey part, so I'm aiming to 'future proof' if and when I do eventually get 12 speed.

I'm pretty sure that power2max cranks are compatible with either. You choose the correct chainrings. Per their page:
Please note: Make sure to use the specific 2x11 or 2x12 chainrings for your drivetrain.

i have beenusing Chorus 12 chainset with Centaur groupset for just over a year (about 15,000km), no problem at all. shifts fine, no excessive wear on chain/chainrings so far.
Some say pour 10ml water out of your bottle to save that last bit of the weight. Sorry, i go one step further, i tend to the rider off my bikes.
n+1...14 last time i checked, but i lost count

I'm using a Chorus 12 chainset in an EPS11 drivetrain. Works perfectly.

P2max and SRM did not change anything for 11 to 12 jump.. Campy redid the logo on the crank, the arms never changed.. I own an 11s labeled SRM the new 12, and an NG on my TT bike.. they all fit the same... will not be an issue at all..
How are 4 bolt 11 speed and 12 speed chainrings dimensionally different?
I have two bikes with Chorus 12 speed 48/32 cranks and Chorus groups that both work fine. Cranks seem to be more adaptable than other parts to different chains and cassettes. I remember a Record 8 speed crank that worked fine with 9 and 10 speed and later several 11 speed cranks working fine with 10 speed groups.
