I have a Garmin edge 500 with 11 years, going to 12, still running fine to this day. It would be nice to have the 540 or 840 iteration, with faster processor, better screen. Maybe just in 2022 or 2023?
Hurry up Garmin! Release that thing with better screen and cpu.

I think garmin is more like android, meanwhile wahoo is more like apple
I think both Garmin and Wahoo are more like Atari and no cycling computer is nowhere near Android/Apple.ch00bzs wrote:I think garmin is more like android, meanwhile wahoo is more like apple

That seems about right... One could argue, that Hammerhead tries to be a bit like Apple/Android (literally). All in all the state of cycling conputers is absolutely terrible when compared to smartphones, smartwatches or other categories. Just think about the fact, that you can get a mid-level smartphone (iPhone SE or OnePlus Nord) for the price of the Wahoo Roam. And I get, that the economies of scale make the smartphones cheaper, but the technological gap bewteen those is still mindboggling.
Battery life, probably.

I hated my 510. I love my 530. I kind of wish I got the 830 because I liked the touch screen but I have seen gotten used to the buttons. I wouldn't hesitate to get a 530 or 830 today over waiting for a 540/840. You never know when a new Garmin will be a lemon.
Really happy with my 830, but the 820 I had before it was hopelessly underpowered. OK, the initial setup on the device may be clunky, but you only do that once, and then it's easy to change data fields on the move (at least with a touch screen it is). Wahoo doesn't have API like ConnectIQ to allow intergration with Xert, and the Hammerhead 2 is lacking in some basic functionality that I need. I don't see me changing from the 830 any time soon as it does everything I want and does it well. I recently completed an 145 mile / 8 hour ride with backlight, turn assisted navigation, Varia radar, PM, HRM, AXS all on/connected, and it never missed a beat with battery life to spare. The touchscreen also works great in the wet as long as you don't stick a screen protector on top.

Not really happy with my Wahoo Element Bolt, and I came from a buggy Garmin 530. Not hearing especially good things about the Hammerhead.
Kind of hard to believe that there isn't a decent mid range cycle computer out there. Couldn't Apple make one?!
And would it be too much to ask to have a small low/med resolution camera built in?

Happy with my 1000.
Bloody thing is 6 or 7 years old with thousands and thousands of hours of run time. Still works great.
I like the bigger screen for more data displays and mapping.
Couldn't go smaller with my failing eyes.

For me this is the opposite, the 1000 is like a smartphone on the bike. A no-go for me.
Hence my Garmin 820 which I like except the battery which is not that strong. I get it replaced 2 years ago by Garmin but it does age very fast

Get the remote for the 530 and you won't need a touch screen.AJS914 wrote:I hated my 510. I love my 530.
