One other thing to remember is that the wide RD has no more wrap capacity than the standard. My crank needs 3T more wrap than a sram crank and it comes up 1T short, with sufficient chain tension only in my little ring and 12T or larger sprockets. The max wrap capacity depends on chain stay length. I've got 415mm stays.

I don't see any cages that would be an improvement for a 2X system. Garbaruk is for 1X and Ceramic speed only mentions 10-36.

Has anyone tried 50/37 with 10-36 with the standard Red AXS RD?

I can't see where the 50/37 would make any difference, other than you need another half inch of chain, compared to a 48. Force and Red should have the same 70.5mm cage length. It's the B gap that needs to be closer to make it work.

I will give it a try. Thanks!

I get the cassette in today, already have a new chain.

It occurred to me, I’m not sure how to go about sizing the chain as Gerard Vroomen has said that, for the standard rear mech to work well with the 10-36 the chain needs to be at the proper length for a 10-33. I don’t have a 10-33.

Any suggestions?

Never size a chain so short that it won't wrap the big/big. If using the standard axs RD, use the common big/big plus 1 inch or use the chain length formula at parktool.com. it should work with the B gap set to about 3mm. I use a 55 inch chain with a 48/31 and 10-36. I don't use a shorter chain with a 10-33.

48/31? How’d you do that?

I use Shimano grx cranks with the chainline corrected, using spacing washers. Never had a chain drop yet after more than 5,000 miles on two bikes.

I've tried to understand all the numbers on the gearing chart but thought I'd ask here for help. I run a 35/48 with a 10-33, but what would the equivalent be in a 1x setup?

48 x 10-45 or 10-46?

I have two bikes with the old Red eTap shifters, one is 52/36 - 11-28 (road bike) and the other one has gearing with 50/34 - 11-28 (CX bike).

Now I want to convert my CX bike to 1x11 and I'll buy the updated 11-speed eTap rear derailleur https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/rd-red-e-a2. I tried to look aroud what is the biggest possible cassette size but I've only found that, in 2x11 version the 11-32 supported as a maximum (of course, I know, my making some 'compromises' on shifting quality + with the B-screw settings this can be enhanced.)

I suppose that, in 1x11 the 11-36 (or maybe the 11-42?) would be also possible.

Have you seen any information about this in the Internet (or have any experience with 1x11 setups)? :)
