BR-R9270 will be the first flatmount MONO-BODY (single piece) caliper from Shimano,
previous Dura-Ace and flatmount XTR BR-M9110 (unlike postmount XTR) disc calipers used 2-piece design
(2016 Dura-Ace disc caliper was announced with 1-piece design on pics, actual product had 2-piece design)

BR-R9270 and BR-R8170 will be first flatmount calipers with separate hex+syringe bleeding ports, like postmount BR-RS785 caliper
previous flatmount road disc calipers and postmount BR-R785 caliper (unlike BR-RS785) used design with single bleeding nipple port
(2014 BR-RS785 disc caliper was announced with bleeding nipple on pics like BR-R785, actual product had separate hex+syringe ports)

I was under the impression that single piece calipers were fundamentally inferior. I.E. they could never match the stiffness and lightness of a bolted together 2 piece. Hence why they changed in the first place, and SRAM also did - Red AXS was revised to 2 piece when Force AXS launched, and both Force & Rival are 2 piece too. Fairly sure all Magura & Trickstuff designs are 2 piece too?

Single piece probably cheaper though ...

Highly dubious about any supposed caliper improvements already, since this almost ensures they'll be heavier - unless they're willing to sacrifice even more stiffness ... Likely making piston retraction even worse ... which they were supposed to be improving with bigger pistons ...

I don't have info on servo-wave support, but it looks like Ultegra have more chances to support this feature vs Dura-Ace.

98g XTR BR-M9100 1-piece non servo-wave caliper (not extreme breaking + lighter caliper + lighter brake lever without servo mechanism)
136g XT BR-M8100 2-piece servo-wave friendly caliper (extreme breaking + heavier caliper + heavier servo-wave design for brake levers)

If their one piece is lighter it likely means stiffness is out the window ...

Also, if Dura Ace and Ultegra calipers require matched brifters, that is so unnecessary and, frankly, facepalm. Seems like there is only going to be limited compatibility between DA and UT (& presumably updated GRX and 105), due to cassette divergence and, if you're right, brake divergence. Given supply shortages, no mix and match means it's going to be even more difficult to either keep your bike running or to do mix and match builds (my gravel build is a mix of GRX6, GRX8, DA, UT, originally 105 cranks (now replaced with Red AXS & Quarq Dfour). Why? Because it was impossible to get a suitable groupset or piece one together when I was building.
