I just prefer it, both visually and from a maintenance perspective as well.

My previous two bikes were carbon with internal cabling and I was never really a fan, occasionally on a bump I could hear a cable slap against the inside of the frame and it always bugged me.

From my perspective the joy of custom is getting what you want. Having something that was made for you will always be a bit special compared to buying of the rack imo.

.... find a local builder and get involved in the process, it’s great fun and you can learn a lot!
...
Agree with that - nothing beats that regular email with pics of progress from the builder.

Looks great. What is the colour ?

My Llewellyn Discus Colossus is back from the painter and is now undergoing the final prep before the frame is shipped to me so I can build it up.

Dazza's comment re the colour is that the flouro's wash out the colour a bit, so can't wait to see it in the real sun ! It's been a long wait, but well worth it !!!

Finally finished building it last night, and managed to get some shots in the early evening

A bike like that should be kept even if you can't ride it. That is art as it gives me pleasure just looking at it.

Cheers.

Haven't weighed it, and probably won't as it wasn't built with weight in mind, even though this is WW.

My similarly equipped Cinelli Vigorelli is 9.1kg with everything, and I expect that with some of the lighter bits on it, it should be around the high 8.xkg.

But as @Vespasianus said, I love riding it and looking at it rather than worrying about how much it weighs :beerchug:

Agreed.
Prob the wrong forum for this opinion, but weight is not too high on my list.
The older I get the less importance it has also.

Bike is beautiful and I am sure the ride is great.
I noticed two bolts for the seatpost binder - is there a reason for that?.

I showed this on a specific thread, but might as well share here.

Kaisei tubes; given the size of the tubes the butted area is really close to the junctions; rides very, very nice. DM brakes; rear near the bottom bracket. That, along the seat post binder on the non drive side of the seat stays, gives the rear a clean look.

6.8 kg on the dot; not too sure about that scale, but don't want to prove it wrong either.

I know MrCurrieinahurry likes the saddle but not too fond of the bottle cage; that's an easy fix ;)
