Clarifying pedal stack height

Searching around the Internet, we may come across stack height numbers for Look and Shimano systems at 14.8mm and 13.7mm respectively.

Look specifies for both their pedals and cleats, i.e. 8.5mm + 6.3mm = 13.7mm (https://www.lookcycle.com/us-en/product ... ade-carbon)

I've found at least one source (https://cyclingtips.com/2017/04/shimano ... ls-review/) that states Shimano DA9100 pedals have a stack height of 8.8mm (so actually slightly taller than Look for the pedals alone), but I haven't found a credible source for the stack height of their cleats.

Does anyone know the stack height of Shimano SPD-SL cleats or other compatible aftermarket cleats?

Found this https://www.cyclephysio.com.au/post/ped ... ad-cycling

Hope this helps. Image

Edit, Oops thought the fore aft numbers were cleat stack height.

Not sure this is accurate. Shimano stack height is widely reported as 13.7mm, not 16. Look keo blade seems correct at 14.8mm, but I am pretty sure Look cleats and hardware weigh less than the shimano ones, not more.

I'm confident that the shimano stack height used to be taller. I think that Dura ace and Ultegra pedals of today could have a different stack versus their older versions.

Shimano dura ace stack height is at least 2mm lower than Time Xpresso (15). I had a bike fit that included a direct retul fit comparison between the two. To get the same saddle position / leg angles / leg extension between the two, I had to lower the saddle by 2.5mm with the dura ace pedals (with the same position of foot / pedal axle). Keywin is also lower than Time, probably by more like 1mm.
