Lightest Aluminium Disc Frameset

Looking to build up an Aluminium frameset. Any advice on brands? Does not have to be mainstream brand....and it should be the lightest available

- Discbrakes
- Flatmount
- thru axle
- Race geometry
- GXP BB compability
- internal Brakelines
- No Budget Limit

Bowman Palace 3D seems to fit all those requirements if I'm not mistaken.

Hey,
I‘m looking for a light aluminium frame with similar specs too.
I already habe an allez sprint disc frame in 56 as my winterride.
I should receive my new Aeroad in the next few weeks (fingers crossed).
Did anyone rode the bowman, allez sprint and maybe emonda alr to draw a conclusion?
Did someone weigh a palace disc frame?

I had an Allez Sprint....and sold it.....not my wisest move.

Bowman is interesting, but with Brexit it makes it a bit of a pointless purchase as although my budget limit is non-Existent.....I m still not paying import duty on top

Some custom builder that will let you choose tubing is probably as light as you can get. I believe PF30 will be the lightest shell you can use but not certain on that. A lot of them tend to use paragon machine works dropouts which are stupid heavy so maybe that's something else to consider.

A lot of custom aluminum shops don't post weights, but I wouldn't expect anything fantastic.

I recently did this exact search as op and it seems that there is a floor for aluminum frames and gave up. They all seemed to weigh about the same and decided to stay with my allez.

Low frames are really nice looking but 1.35kg / $2600 base.

Spooky MAVRK is great looking but no weight listed so I'd imagine it's around the Low weight. Starts at $3k.

Bowman is around 1.1kg for reference.

Maybe in the very smallest size 50 but even then I'd see that seems a tad too optimistic.
Some real world weights for the Palace 3 frameset size 56 according to my kitchen scales:

frame with derailleur hanger and cable guides 1380 g
fork with full length uncut steerer 416 g
headset including compression plug 94 g
thru-axles 24 and 29 g respectively
seatpost clamp 24 g

Haven't built it up yet. Still collecting parts and no need to hurry with winter here.

What's the point of aluminum, with no price limit? Most want a cheap disposable aluminumm frame for winter use or in expectation of trashing it in a race day crash. A cheap carbon frame would proabably be just as light.

I‘ve ridden nothing but carbon bikes since 2007 and honestly I‘m grateful that I‘ve had and still have great sponsors that supply me with race bikes and equipment.

But as I love working on my bikes and building up new bikes from scratch I wanted something different, that I enjoy to ride, not necessarily the fastest option

Ah fair enough, I heard it was around the same weight as the Palace R (which I have, albeit in rim variety).
