Hmm, didn't think about this. I did notice that the Supacaz plugs felt pretty heavy, and I don't particularly care for the expandable style. Just ordered some Zipp plugs, 4g, for $7, and they'll match my Zipp bars.
Drilling out plastic plugs to save 1-2g?? Whatever floats your boat, but they look like crap, I wouldn't put them on my bike if they saved 100g.
It's not about aestheitcs, it's about showing that overpriced carbon bar end plugs are inferior to cheapo Deda ones, drilled out or not.rides4beer wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 6:55 pmDrilling out plastic plugs to save 1-2g?? I'm sorry, but this is just really goofy. The reason to use carbon fibre is that it's light AND strong. The last part is key for frames, wheels, etc. A bar end plug does not need to be strong. Just needs to be light, stay in place and not look like crap. Simple plastic can be made just as light as CF, and will be dramatically cheaper every time.
CF is NOT a superior material for every possible application.

Reviving this thread to show how you can make really light bar end plugs using 3D-printing;
Printed in lucent orange to better show off the design, final version will be black.
Totalt material cost is about 0,06€ for the pair.

Thank you!
I will post the design for free so anyone with a 3D-printer can make their own.

Would anyone Netherlands based be willing to print a set of these and post them to Amsterdam? I'd be happy to cover all costs plus a feeLucendi wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 4:32 pmThank you!

Very nice. If I did not have Enve SES aero bars with the molded end caps, I would also be trying to find someone with a 3D printer.

If anyone wants a set of these and don't have a 3D printer, I am happy to mail out a few for the postage fee.
Contact me in PM!
