I have sent out bar end plugs to all the ones that have asked so far.

I'll send out a few more to those whom are interested.

I've sent out about ten letters with bar end plugs all over Europe and South America. Let's wait for your feedback before I make any more.

I was asked to design a top cap delete plug. Is this something anyone else would be interested in?

This is what I came up with;

Image

Inspired by the J&L top cap with a conical design. An o-ring secures the plug in the fork tube.

Image

I also made a flat top version;

I would suggest keeping the fork expander in place as it is important to counteract the clamping forces from the stem on the fork tube.

Anyone interested in a top cap plug can PM me, and it would also be possible to add logos or designs to the top cap.

Just as before, I will send them out for the postage fee.

The top cap delete plug serves no function. After the headset has been adjusted and the preload set, the regular top cap and screw also doesn't serve any function, unless your headset becomes loose during a ride and you are SOL trying to adjust the headset preload without the top cap and screw.

And that's how the plug looks with a logo. Big shoutout to Lucendi for making these!

I made an ultralight version at only 1,8 grams. It has a uniform wall thickness and is thinner than the standard version. Anyone thinking that the standard version is a bit too heavy are welcome to try these. :)

Hey @Lucendi is it possible to print a pair designed for use without bar tape? I assume current designs have some space between the plug and the inner walls of the bars to wedge the bar tape ends in, but I run my ww bars with gaffer tape only

Yes, I can print a version with increased diameter to be used with minimal bartape, but it would most likely also require some tape wrapped around the plug itself to get the diamater just right for an interference fit.

@Lucendi

Thx for doing this. Possible to put the newer/thinner one for use WITHOUT bartape tucked inside...O.D on mine is 27mm lip (with hole in center) on Thingverse or other public 3D CAD file repository?

Also, including the top cap? I also have a MCFK on one bike. Would be great to have both options, flat and inverted conical. Looks like you put a thin groove for an 'O-ring'. Very thorough! TIA

Hello @lucendi,
I would humbly ask you for a pair of your bar end plugs, if still left.
I am in Japan though.
