I hear less complaints people who use these calipers with Shimano, but yeah, they have been and still are a pain.

Thanks to the wealth of information here, I bit the bullet and built an Aethos Expert frame up this summer with Ultegra Di2. Have been loving it for local hill climbs.
Currently sits at 6.62kg ........
This is really nice - I'm not convinced that all the Aethos frame sizes look in proportion, but this does. 54 or 52?
It’s a 54. 400x100 front end. Fits well so far.
Thanks for the tips guys. Ordered XTR rotors and 9270 DA calipers. Will leave shifters alone. Not sure about crank+PM upgrades. Too many options.
*EDIT: shoot. Front 9270 DA calipers don’t seem to be in stock anywhere….

Much appreciated Ryan. I spent a bunch of time comparing photos and trying to confirm this. Sometime proprietary parts pay off. Order updated.
Cheers
Now to figure out a good crank+PM option.
Is DA 9100 with dual 4iiii PM still a concern for driveside PM accuracy? Either way, this doesn’t seem like a big improvement over Ultegra.

I went Sram Red Dub for my current Aethos Build. I have a Stone 5 arm spider coming which (if it fits, which there is a ? Over) with extralite chainrings will bring it in at about 490g.
Have sanded down to avoid the Shimano mismatch..
If that all works, it will go to _4iiii for a factory install of a left side podium. All in should be 500g

I’m having a hard time finding DA 9100 cranks in stock locally. Can anybody point me to a good source? Preferably in 50/34, 170mm flavor.
I’ve been tempted to try a used crankset off ebay, but it’s not easy to judge tooth wear etc in most photos. This is a good example:
EDIT: can’t post an ebay link it seems.
On a positive note, finally tested a C59 saddle for a few hours on the trainer. Better than expect. Will see if it’s a keeper.

499g; +10g for the 4iiii.
Need to build the bike up now and see how the crank works out on the road. I think the more traditional look works well with the frame

Is it possible to install 9270 disc brake caliper with 9170 shifter ?
Does look possible on the shimano compatibility listing
https://productinfo.shimano.com/#/com?c ... acid=C-499
Any advice ?
Cheers

Anyone know the stock weight of the Aethos Expert 2022 model (C38 wheels, Ultegra Di2 12 speed, alu cockpit). I'm guessing around 7.2-7.4kg in size 56?
The pine green one is 7.115 kg in 54.

Thanks, so an upgrade to Alpinist bars or similar (-150g) and selling the wheels to replace with something lighter in equal price range (-100g ish) should bring it down to the 6.9kg mark, excluding pedals, for a ~$500 added cost.
It's a pity that the standalone price of the frameset is so high, I'd prefer the Tropical Teal color, but not at a ~$1500 premium compared to the price + wheelset resale value of the Expert complete build.
