I have a 48/35 on the front, and 10-33 on the back, but I am bringing the 10-36 along. I actually used that during Haute Route Switzerland, and it was the Right Choice.
People were looking pretty jealous when I was spinning up a 13% grade, while everyone else was forced to stand.

Yes, although I've had a lot of trouble with my three AXS drivetrains, I do love the ratios.

it needs the aero numbers of a brick.

Since there are several other non-aero bikes, and the aero rating (in terms of stars) makes no sense:
- Colnago V3RS 2 Stars
- Canyon Grail 2 Stars

- Aeroad 2021/ Cervelo S5: 3 Stars
- Dogma 65.1: 3 Stars

So if the Aethos had 2 Stars, but was still slow aerodynamically, it wouldn't be surprising.
As long as it climbs well!

Curious what you think of the ride quality between Aethos and Emonda? I am tempted by an Aethos but have a feeling that an Emonda or even an SL7 would have a better ride quality. You have ridden more of these high end bike frames than most on this forum so interested to know you opinion?

Both ride magnificent and are set up to the almost the same geometry.
Most people report the ride quality of the Aethos to be *out of this world*, which I can't agree with.
Don't get me wrong, the bike rides super well. It has a nice and nimble geometry, it is stiff and has good damping, and of course it *climbs well* (it climbs 200g better than an SL7 or Emonda, which in my case is 200 of 80,000g).

The biggest comfort advantage that it has over the Emonda is, that the seat post is exposed farther out of the frame, and that I ride it with fatter tires.

Besides that, I wouldn't say there is that much between the bikes. The Emonda and SL7 will be better Allround racers, while the Aethos may be the better climber and grand frondo bike.

I think I might go for Aethos as I am quite like the look of your build and my days of racing are behind me! The roads also are not great here in the mountains with some light trails so I like to run at least 28c tires nowadays.

I built up an Aethos for similiar reasons, with the new Zipp 303 FC with schwalbe pro ones and find it well suited for rougher road rides and light gravel like rail trails. You can save $ and get almost the same thing buy going with the 303S. Flatland is not a fan though of the hookless rims tough;)

Another frame weight data point for those interested. Size 54 frame, Sagan Disruption Collection Pro Fact 10R, Casablanca/Ginko color. In person, its a pearlescent cream with some sparkle, and rose gold lettering and accents. Built for gran fondos. I think I might have the only Aethos with 105 on it, but that was the only groupset in stock anywhere.

I'm using the Alpinist wheels and find them to be great. They aren't tubeless, but I'm not a diehard tubeless guy for road bikes. I also have the new Zipp 353. Super light weight and great ride quality.

p.s. You could consider "Cali-crossing" your shifter cables (per Spesh's instructions) to avoid damaging the paint on the headtube and maybe giving a lower friction.
