Thanks for sharing. Keep us posted on progress. I'm also curious about the rear with seat stay clearance as well as cable routing. The GT calipers are slightly larger than the F1 so if the clearance is too tight, he can try the F1 which are quite a bit cheaper too. I have both and can't really tell if the GT are more powerful. Both stop reasonably well.
In the end the bike is supposed to be around (but less than) 5.5kg ready to ride, ie with pedals, bottle holders and gps mount.
