Exactly.. Can be prosecuted doing business with criminals... But if a subsidy somewhere else did the deal.. And passed along the key.. Altruistically of course.. Then all good in the hood.

That sky article has some interesting wording that would indicate you are correct.

I have tried al the usb ports on my desktop, laptop and desktop at my work. Always get the message "usb is not recognized".
Could the usb port of the garmin be damaged, also if the battery is loading?

For some reason I cannot connect my 520 to my mac either. Maybe because of Mac OS Catalina

A few people have been having similar woes on a Mac. My 520 and 530 mount here in Mojave, but a I have seen recommendations to try using Android File Transfer for Catalina.

My 820 works fine on Catalina, possibly irrelevant though.

In that case you might just have a problem with your Garmin device. Best to contact Garmin.

do you have other data cables ?

my device is picky as hell too, but once I identified some working ones I labeled the hell out of them and keep them away in a safe place.

Garmin connect app back online in UK as of Tuesday evening.

Garmin app on my iPhone still shows message 'Sorry, we're down for maintenance. Check back shortly.' I'm based in PST USA. It's 12:30pm 7/29 now.
