I have a garmin edge 1000 which always sychronisezed with my smartphone using garmin connect and strava sychronized with strava. Cause the problems with Garmin connect since friday i wanted to upload my ride from yesterday to strava tu connect the garmin edge to the pc. The only thing is uploading the battery, the usb device not recognized. I used several cables and tried, with my desktop, laptop, desktop at work, nothing. I'm almost sure it's a problem with the garmin edge. the stupid thing also is that de activities are saved on the edge's harddisk and not in the sd card.
In addition to the important thing people mentioned earlier - the cable must be also allowing data transfer, not charging only - it might as well be that your micro usb cables are partially damaged (and this is really easy to happen especially if they're being used frequently). Recently, one of my cables died (for no apparent reason) and I realized that out of other 6 I had all over the house, none worked properly (they still charged the mobiles, but not on "quick charging" mode).

It's not USB anymore if it can't use normal USB cables. It might also be that the connector on the device is broken on the data pins.

Is there a data connector in the garmin edgee 1000 and a connector to load the battery?

Slowly.. Looks like they are metering the returning services to avoid ddosing themselves..

I've seen better and much worse responses to this sort of attack... Assuming they didn't pay ransom.

Its more than likely your PC that is not seeing the Garmin device not a cable or a Garmin issue. I have two laptops and one always sees the Garmin and the other one only sees the Garmin sometimes. It could be a driver issue on your PC. Try to plug your Garmin into another PC and if it sees the Garmin than you know its your PC at fault.

Back to the issue at hand this morning my wife was able to load five training sessions to Garmin Connect.

I am the only lucky person that have over 6 years TP as a buck up ! Wow
I've got all my .fit files saved locally and backed up on my computer. In Garmin Connect you can have them email you your complete history which I've done a few times just in case something like this would happen and heaven forbid there was a data loss. But hopefully they can restore everything without any loss. Plus, my Edge 830 has like the last 9 months of activities saved in its memory to bridge the gap between when I last did the Garmin download and today.
Where can I ask to email me all my fit files?

Sometimes try another usb port on the same computer. They aren't all specced the same.

The above is true... also I find some longer USB cords dont work for me. The original garmin cord always works for me.

Yeah. My PC sometimes sees it and other times doesn't. Try a different port or just unplug/replug until it sees it.

Garmin Connect features are gradually back online.
I hope they were able to fix this themselves and not pay money to thieving scumbags.

USB hubs also cause problems for some devices.
