Not sure if it's a language thing, but it says backwards compatibility with all cassettes starting with 11t. Does that mean, say, a 12-29 is out...? (or does that mean "down to" 11t)

The classic body and the N3W body + additional ring are compatible down to 11t. Presumably N3W body by itself will be meant for cassettes with 10t cogs and maaaybe monolithic blocks that end with 11t cogs for gram-shavers.

Yep, seems reasonable...! Will be interesting to see the product lineup take shape over the next month (I've read elsewhere things will be dropping every week or two for the next month)

So what's benefit of being 4.4 mm shorter, aside of being slightly lighter? Is Campagnolo going to bring 1x and otherwise 10t won't fit the current free body?

edit: already the answer was given.

Puzzled: Round spokes on those new 21c DB carbon Shamals. Would think building with oval spokes was easier.

Thanks @robertbb for catching this drop!

Campy, again making everything compatible vs SRAM where absolutely nothing is released without a new "standard" and a 1000 instagram pics. The N3W hub looks to be a great way to preserve perferctly functional high-end wheelsets with upcoming technological innovations. My upcoming Mosaic is going to have SR12 EPS and potentially those Shamal's vs WTO.

Okay, so besides DUB and XD/XDR what new SRAM standards are we talking about?

Keep in mind SRAM couldn't modifiy HyperGlide for 10t compatibility...it's Shimano's standard.

DUB, well, it solves the problem of hardened steel bearing races chewing up softer alloy spindles by adding plastic shims. I'm totally fine with this and it will be interesting to see what Campagnolo and Shimano do should they ever decide to move to "30mm" spindles.

But isn't the older 11s body already compatible with both 10s and 12s? What issue are they trying to solve? - or what new cassette intended for the new shorter body is in the pipel line? Im guessing a cassette that fiths the new short body wont fit a legacy 11s body then.

Im not sure how this one N3W hub can be compatable with both Campag and Shimano cassettes when the channels required are completely different?

10t cogs won't fit around the current splined interface, so they're just going to make monoblock cassettes or maybe split block cassettes. A cassette that fits the N3W without the additional ring will probably have a captive lockring of some sort. I'm doubting what I said earlier about Campagnolo possibly making 11-XXt cassettes for N3W sans additional ring. That would just add to the confusion, so they'll probably keep that configuration with 10-XXt cassettes only.

It's not claimed to be. It's backward compatible with Campy 10-11-12spd cassettes via adapter. It's designed for an unreleased new product range.

Not sure where you saw that. Nothing to do with Shimano (or SRAM) though

As has been said, Campy's old cassette body had a smallest cog of 11t. This N3W standard (clever name) allows a 10t small cog.. maybe even smaller in future.. while the adapter retains backwards compatibility with Campy's existing 10, 11 and 12 speed cassettes. Pretty darn good solution.

Current body fits 9-12s starting at 11t (and 12t). N3W fits that too (maybe not starting at 12t) but that’s history with 12s, so...
Will be interesting to se what comes specifically for N3W.
