Is there a better looking lightweight stem for the Emonda than the THM Tibia / Schmolke TLO?

Rides of Japan has this on his Emonda and it really finishes the look. I’d waste my money on this for the looks alone.

Modern road bikes have a shelf life of 3-4 years before upgraded. My best guess is a 2024 refresh for the Emonda.

I hope it will be 2024, becasue I just bought a curtent model but Douphine will start in a few days, so we might see sth there.. Also they annouced Lidl spornoship from 30th June so another opportunity to introduce new bike with new colors?

Roval Alpinist is actually pretty good for the Emonda.

Can you post more pics? Sideways, headset area, etc? My impression was that the very thin Alpinist cockpit does not really match the aero shaped front section of the Emonda.

Hi, I am trying to figure out if I can run my standard 11 speed SRAM gxp cranks on my emonda - and which t47 BB is correct one to use. Searching the tread brought me to you where I see you are seem to be running an 11 speed gxp. Thanks for any insights or recommendations.

You can if it's not a GXP Quarq version. I initially tried to use my 2016 Red22 GXP Quarq on the current model Emonda, but due to Trek's extra wide BB shell spacing and the the wafer-thin external "nut" that you tighten the T47 with, the cadence sensor ring on the Quarq hits the frame/"nut." It won't work, nor would my more recent Red22 Quarq Dzero for the same reason. Some Rotor cranks have the same issue.

My LBS gave me a good deal on a new SRAM Red22 GXP crank which works with Dura Ace 9200, even with my AB oval rings. You'll need a T47 BB made for GXP's. I'm using a Chris King ThreadFit T47 24i (Fit Kit 6).

Have a long race at the end of october and will report again on how it feels in a race setting

I’m in the process of speccing up a build and I’ve always wanted to do an Emonda build every since I saw Rides Of Japan epic weight weenie build. BUT I’m torn on whether to hold out for a potential refresh or just go with the current Emonda.

I’m leaning towards building it using the current frame and if there is a refresh, wait a year or so and throw the components across onto the new frame.

Since all the brands are back to building dedicated climbing bikes, I wonder if Trek will follow suit?

It’s hard to ignore a Canyon ultimate for the spec, weight and price point but not a fan of the way it looks and Treks colour colour options are unmatched.

Roval Alpinist is actually pretty good for the Emonda.

I decided to go for the Rapide integrated barstem. Looks very good (needed a 2mm spacer to mount), stiff enough and pretty comfortable. My preferred width would be 380mm, but Spesh only manufactures a very limited selection of "stems", so went for 100/400mm in the end and feels good. Routing the brake hoses was easy, routing Di2 cables was challenging, according to my LBS at least. But looks pretty clean.
