Each position to their own, I guess your bike set up may look a little odd to some, but as long as you are comfortable and don't suffer from back/saddle or joint issues then we should all be happy you're comfortable on it. Not everyone rides with a slammed stem at -17 degrees. Sure it looks good but my back can't take it for more than 30 minutes.

Not sure what your budget is, or where you are based (france? canada?) for a new handlebar/stem set up. You could always do a semi-integrated setup, where you have internal routing through the handlebars, but left neat and tidy under the stem before entering the frame. You get the best of both worlds that way.
Easton aero bars come to mind, like the ec70 or ec90. Or Deda ones. They generally retail less than 200pounds. There are cheaper alternatives out there on the market as well. Have you considered 2nd hand? You can sometimes find some absolute gems there.

But definitely have a look on youtube at some good bike fitters, I quite like bikefitjames on francis cade's channel.

Does anyone know any alternative for the Bontrager RSL integrated barstem? I don't quite like the long handlebar reach. Looking for something that can hide the cables as good as the RSL if not better.

Many other integrated bars will work. Don't think they'll hide it much better though, as the frame is designed to have cables exposed for like 2cm.

Hello everybody. I'm fom Italy.I'm new to the forum, I signed up with a Merida Sculpture. Now I would like to upgrade to Trek Emonda SL6 PRO. Has anyone had the opportunity to weigh it as standard? I have seen weights between 7.8 kg and 8.2 kg without pedals. I would like to bring it to 7.6 kg including the Vektor 2S pedals. thank you

I have the SL5 Disc, and it was around 9.5kg stock and I have it down to 7.5kg right now with pedals and that's still with the stock 105 groupset. Mucho more weight to drop.

The Trek site lists the SL6 Pro at 8.03 kg for a 56, so I think you can definitely get it to 7.6kg.

What have you changed to take off so much weight?

I have SL frameset that I built up, size 60, Ultegra Di2, Light Bicycle AR56 wheels (1480g), SWorks saddle, stem + handlebars is around 400grams, lightweight bottle cages, Favero Assiomas (~300g), JG Sroad 11-32 cassette, Vittoria corsa tires + latex tubes. The bike comes out as 7940g like this. I'd be hard pressed to drop anything else without going very exotic or Dura Ace. Maybe a little in wheels for 1480g for 56mm deep is great.

My project starts with the 195 gr 991 GTR CARBON handlebar. Extralite RoadSteam 90 gr. Extralite thru axles 50 gr. Saddle PROLOGO M5 PAS NACK 200 gr. I would like to use Stages crank arm and Exustar pedals which allow me to take off 150g compared to the Vektor 2s pedals. But unfortunately the bike won't arrive before March 2022.

Excellent result. Some components are beyond my budget. You have listed the seatpost .... the original one is not already in carbon? On the Trek website the 135 mm is given at 130 gr.

Thanks! I have the SL5 and it comes with the heavy alloy seat mast. It was a pain to find the carbon version.

Did you have any issues mounting the saddle to the Trek seat mast? I understand the Berk has 7x9mm rails, but the seat mast ears are designed for 7x10mm?

I didn’t, mounted easily with the the 7x10 ears. I did apply thin strips of black electrical tap and layered it so it was around 1mm tall, and stuck them to each rail to fill the gap. No idea if that did anything though.

You should try shrink sleeves instead of tape. Just cut a sleeve in the shrink sleeve and put it around the rail.

Fantastic weight savings. May I ask if there was a particular reason you chose a Rotor casette over a dura ace one?
