The -R is reusable, the non-R isn't

Does anyone know if the missing link of the KMC chain that comes with the TCR 2021 is re-usable?
Have a look at writing engraved on the side of the missing link. CL555R is replaceable, CL555R is single use.
All of them are reusable, even the ones that say they aren't. Just be smart about it.
Thanks guys. I feel smarter already.

Hey guys, i am new here.

Got 2 questions and hope you guys can help.

Bought this TCR advanced pro frame 2021 (not sure if the year is correct and not sure if it is pro frame or not). How do i check?

I have the seatpost clamp that says 7Nm. Is this the one the gives the creaky sound?

Thanks!

You can measure your steerer tube diameter, if it's 1 1/4 (=31.8 mm) it's the pro model. If it's 1 1/8 (=28.6 mm) then it's the standard one. Just by looking at it I would say it's the frame of the Advanced 1, so standard model. The 7 Nm clamp is indeed the one which can creak.

Thank you for the reply. I confirm my stem that i used is 1 1/4. Was using the same stem on my previous pro frame. I didn't know that tip to differentiate pro and standard models. We learn something new everyday.

Did my first ride with no creak. Any idea if I can use the old seatpost block on this frame?

I have visions of the chain coming off the chainring spinning at 110rpm and wrapping around my leg and/or the chainstay......I imagine that could be painful for me and/or the chainstay.

So I don't reuse missing links, even though it makes me feel less of a man.

That's the reason why serious cyclists wear long socks.

Recently snapped a chain on a 14% climb, fortunately I was okay apart from a few cuts to the calf but I had to replace my shoes (torn from dragging my toes along the floor) and socks (cut on chainring)

Did you snap the quick link or a different part of the chain though?

This is getting way off the TCR topic of this thread, but it's not about snapping the quick link.

Quick link failure occurs when tension in the chain is released and the link slips due to wear. If this happens the chain comes off.

That's why I never reuse quick links, too chicken.

You mean that the link effectively disengages itself? Can't imagine that, unless you used the same link for 10 years.
