I just picked up a 2021 Advanced Pro Frameset in the Carbon colour.

I am putting my parts list together and have a couple questions on the stem.

This is my first Giant with the OD2 steerer - I can only seem to find Zipp and Giant stems to fit the 1-1/4 size...

For the Zipp Stems - there are 2 different Service Course SL models:
1 - Model ST-SC-SL-B2 - https://www.sram.com/en/zipp/models/st-sc-sl-b2
2 - Model ST-SC-SL-B1 - https://www.sram.com/en/zipp/models/st-sc-sl-b1

Which is the proper one for the Giant OD2?

Are there other stems that will fit? (don't really want a Canyon set-up - I prefer separate bar and stem).

Thanks,

Either of those Zipp stems should work; the first one is just the new model and the second one is the previous iteration.
Other options: Ritchey WCS C220 84D ( https://us.ritcheylogic.com/us_en/wcs-c220-84d-stem ), Ritchey Superlogic C260 ( https://us.ritcheylogic.com/us_en/super ... 0-84d-stem ), Extralite Hyperstem 1.25 (90-110mm only).

Also don't forget the PRO Vibe stem. That one is also available in 1 1/4". https://www.pro-bikegear.com/global/roa ... stem-1-1-4

I ve the newer of those two zipp stems you linked too, i had the previous version (wrong length) the newer one is much nicer finish.

In regard to the Ritchey one, i tried that one as well, But there was no way i could get the face plate to clamp up, without forcing the bolts, so i returned it, very fiddly.

Provibe has a 10' drop

Whatever you end up with, just make sure its a 1 1/4" steerer not a 1 1/8"

Thanks All!

The PRO Vibe stem looks like a good option for me, just hope it is available someplace.

Good to know! Do you know though if these non-giant stems will work with the 2021 TCR's spacers? The 2021's wavy spacers look like they might not play well with other stems. Would love to know if others have any experience with this. I've been waiting for a replacement Giant Od2 stem for months, and would love to switch out to one of the other brands mentioned so long as they work with the spacers.

Hey everyone, new here.

Been using this site for some time which has been a brilliant help.

Looking at picking up a new TCR. My LBS has the Advanced Pro 2 in stock which I'm going to look at. However I am able to get hold of the Advanced Pro 1 rim brake version. Just wondering if any of you have the rim brake version and how well the carbon wheels work from a braking point of view?
i ve a rm brake pro 1 and i think the braking is superb - wet or dry... pads aren't cheap around £30 for for a full set.

Hoping this is appropriate for this thread, or mods can move it to the wanted section.

Does anyone with a MY21 TCR have an extra 2.5 and 5mm spacer they would want to part with? I changed to a new stem and didn't keep the spares.

It would probably work, but not look super great.
You can buy specific spacers for the Pro Vibe or just use normal round ones.

Yeah but the issue will still be with Giant cone spacer at the headset. It has the same shape as the new Giant spacers, so you'd need a normal round cone spacer in it's place

Right... looking at the stem closely, I see that the cone spacer, too, follows that same wave shape as all of the spacers. So it seems that we 2021 TCR owners are basically relegated to Giant's own stems? Very unfortunate if that's the case. Not that there's anything wrong with these stock stems, but it's a nightmare to dial in the fit considering it is nearly impossible to find stems of any length save for the shortest or longest. I absolutely love the new TCR but this stem/spacer design was a terrible idea!

It's just a look thing. Not sure I understand how this makes the design "terrible". The design adheres to the stock stem's shape -- doing the contrary would have been terrible.

I've used a Ritchey stem. It's super light and I prefer the angle. It doesn't fit totally flush with the latest spacers but it's not that noticeable. I do agree that it's not ideal, however.

You can replace the dust cap with a normal flat round one if the stock one interferes too much with the stem.
