Retard here,

Can someone identify where these 2 bits come from? They seem to work together

My bike is a 2018 endurance cf 8 with Ultegra 8000 disc full groupset and krysium elite ust wheels
I’ve only took out the entire drive train and the rear disc nothing else for a deep clean.

It’s driving me mad, been looking at exploded views of my conponents and frame but can locate where these 2 bits come from...

Many thanks

Auto mechanics just throw those parts in their tool box or garbage.

Can you give some sense of scale to the parts? How long are they, outer diameter? It is hard to tell from a picture with nothing else in it whether they are 5mm or 25mm.

that is the end cap to your mavic wheelset. looks like the drive side cap by the freehub body.

Gavin> thought so too but my wheels appeared complete and there’s no issue fitting them on the frame

Millers> Front crank except bottom bracket, rear dérailleur, cassette, chain, rear disc.

Joejack> the diameter corresponds to the thru axle they are 1-2cm in max dimension

And they were definitely in the bike since I’ve put everything I took apart in a single box and there’s mud and dirt on them.

Note that the bike is completely rebuilt and looks fine and feels solid, No play, weird noise or anything, haven’t ridden it because of that tho

Plastic makes me think it can't be drivetrain related but are they parts from a freehub assembly? Check the freehub operation and wiggle the cassette and check for play sideways maybe. It should feel solid and spin smooth.

Did you touch the headset?

Also worth mentioning that I know the square route of JackSh#t when it comes to cycles.
Took me the whole weekend to refit, set up and adjust the front and rear derailleur

What size are these parts? Put something common and small next to them for reference.

Could they be parts of a tool you used?

Bizarre. The silver one certainly does look like a hub end-cap, but the black one looks like a conical washer used on post mount disc brakes. This would be two totally unrelated parts..............and no post mount conical washer is the same diameter as a hub end cap.

Well that’s a quick release hub and you mentioned that you have thru axles so either that picture doesn’t really match your hub or you need to get your eyes checked :-)

Take some pics of both hubs with the wheels removed. I’ll bet you’ll find your answer (perhaps with some help from the forum).
