The Speedplay hole pattern is available on this current and old models. You just need to specify at the time of ordering. Now since we’re on Weight Weenies aka we love marginal gains. The 3 hole Shimano/Look pattern with the Speedplay adapter is actually thinner than the Speedplay specific sole that comes on the Bont. Why? The reinforced plate and built it area has a slight stack height difference. Not much but just a tad.
Ah, interesting. I just ordered Bont Helix 4 holes Asian Fit during the Black Friday sale.
I used Bont Vaypor + with Speedplay adapyer before, it's actually hard to shim the Speedplay adapter plate to sit totally flat. It's close, but there are still a bit curvature to it. Hence why I go with Speedplay direct this time.
how much thicket it is? like 1mm?

So, prompted by a thought on another thread, I ordered a pair of DMT KR0 to try on. Fit: I am 43.5 in S Works, 44.5 in Lake and 44 in Shimano and Giro - these I ordered size 44, and it was spot on. Width feels a bit roomier in the toebox than Giro Empire/Imperial and Shimano, narrower than S Works 7. Weight in that size was 235-237g per shoe, which is not half bad.

Pros: super comfy, soft upper. The top most part is actually stretchy. Then there is a non-stretch partat the bottom. So you sort of pull them on, which I suppose is the case with all knit shoes.

Cons:
- Thick sole. Feels/looks like a lot of extra stack height;
- The upper is really too soft. You want comfort, but you also want the hold to be firm and not just on account of the boa strings. With these, you can get a firm grab by ratcheting down the boas, but it just doesn't feel quite right as the load is not particularly well distributed.
- Despite the silicon inserts in the heel box, I did not find heel retention to be that spectacular.
- Not really a fan of the looks. Also, the knit upper in any colour, but particularly anything other than black, seems like a very fair weather shoe, which will get dirty in a real hurry.

Net result: returning them.

About 2-3mm.

Suggestion for all, when comparing different brand shoe sizes. Look up each manufacturer size chart, covert everything to millimeters and then compare brands.

Was afraid of feedback like that and I’m guess since it’s Knit construction the KR1 and SH1 wouldn’t fair as well either.

Anyone with experience with either of those two?

This was the showstopper for me. I had heel slip even in a half-size too small. Also it felt very high stack or the ankle collar was a bit low with the supplied footbeds.

Anyone have any heel rub from the black pads on the inside of their heel cup on their 902S? Not sure if it was just a case of running the top BOA too loose and it caused some rubbing and irritation on my heel. I placed some kinesio tape on the sides of the heel and so far it’s literally a band-aid solution.

OnTheRivet wrote:Just a another data point. I've been a huge Sworks 7 shoe fan but they took a bit of work to get them right. Specialized gave me a pair of Vent Shoes because of a wheel warranty issue (great company) and they are without a doubt the best shoes I've ever owned. The last few shoes I've owned, Giro's (too narrow), first gen Shimano RC900 S-phyres (too narrow and too low with heel lift) Sworks 6 (good shoe) sworks 7 (great shoe but needs to be broken in) Sworks Vents (All the pluses of the sworks 7 without the initial comfort issues). I used the Vents on a 2 hour ride right out of the box with zero issues, that's a pretty big deal for me. Other than being a warm weather shoe only I can't say anything bad about them.
The Vents are definitely SUPER comfortable out of the box and are awesome for summer riding.

Only gripe was they just didn’t feel super secure while sprinting up hills or throttling it hard in a sprint. - maybe why none of the Pro riders never ended up using them. The wrinkle across the pinky was annoying so I got rid of them.

Highly recommended for out of the box comfort.

I see where they might not work for a sprinter but there are a few pros using them.
Evenepoel and Almeida are two I found pictures of.

Received my RC902T's yesterday.

Hard to believe, but they're even comfier than the normal RC902s, the single boa is fantastic and the strapping over midfoot is perfect (for me).

Size 47 come in at 292g per shoe. The toe box is also bigger on the T's, which was my only issue with the normal 902s.

EDIT: Pics added.
is the added volume only noticable for the frontal toe area or also on the side?
I thought the 902s were ok, great heel lock down but my little toe was a bit squished.

I've gone from a 46 to a 47, so more room because of that, but I would say they're slightly wider, regardless.

Curious about this. What are the other differences? Can you use these track shoes on the road?

Soles and innersoles are identical, no idea why they are referred to as 'Track'? Both use BOAR Li2 dials.

The upper/tongue is foam so not as robust as the standard shoe, and most likely will discolour. But the standard shoes do this since they have a white liner / inner.

The Track shoes have a black liner / inner, so an improvement there.

Stretch-resistant upper minimizes foot movement and improves power transfer.

Hmm, thanks. The other weird thing is that weight is listed at 240g for 42, 5g more than the road versioon. Odd, given the single vs dual boa.

Out of curiosity, was the 46 definitely too small because you touched the front or why did you move to a 47?
I am honestly not a 100% sure how to size cycling shoes in general because I have read it is sometimes down to personal preference.
