Hi,

I'm looking for a new handbuilt carbon wheelset.
The new Mavic CXP Pro Carbon UST caught my attention: reasonably light, inner width of 19mm, cheaper than Enve, and a textured/laser threated brake track.
Does anybody have experience with the CXP Pro of Open Pro rim brake rims?
How is the quality of the braking? Is it better then other non textured brake tracks?

Thank you

It's the same rim used in the Cosmic Pro Carbon SL UST which is a good wheel, stiff, super easy to fit tubeless tires and yes, braking is much better than non textured brake tracks for sure but it's still a carbon rim. I've seen better but I never thought it was noticably bad either, Enve textured tracks are not better I would say, I haven't tried the latest from Zipp and Campagnolo.

Note that you need to use Mavic/SwissStop Yellow King pads on these. I think Black Prince are much better on carbon rims, Mavic agrees they brake better but say they are too aggressive and can damage/wear out the brake track too quickly so they are not approved.
