Am looking for clincher or tubeless tires with the following characteristics (if one exists  ):
  • 27-28mm actual mounted width on 19mm or 21mm internal width rims (after ridden a month or two, so it's the final width not the newly installed width)
  • Supple ride feel and good grip when dry
  • Decent puncture resistance
  • Good rolling resistance, as good as or better than Pirelli P Zero Velo 4S for example
  • Compatible with carbon rims

Michelin Power Competition ticks all the boxes...

25mm GP5000 clinchers measured right at 28mm broken in on my 21c rims. Fantastic tires, haven't had a single puncture on two sets, great rolling resistance and grip. Easy mounting, didn't even need levers (when new I lay them in the sun for a while to soften them up).

I'll second the 25c GP5000's. I have about 1500 miles on mine, and they are still measuring 28mm on 21mm rims (CLX50). Performance wise, I have no complaints, whatsoever.

25mm irc roaditle tubeless are 27.5mm on 19mm internal width rims.

IRC formula pro 28mm are 28m. On the same rims.

I ha e measured the 25m corsa controls 2 tlr tyres I have mounted. They look like they are 26mm.

Schwalbe Pro One 25c (old ones, not the new 2019 ones) measured right at 28mm on my HED Jet+ (21mm internal).

Vittoria Corsa Control 700x25 on HED Belgium+ (20.7mm innner), once stretched measures 28.3mm wide and ~25.8mm tall (more error bar on this measurement). I have not measured the newer Corsa Control 2.0 as I have a good stock of the original.

For good weather riding on a mix of pavement from smooth to rough chipseal, I really like these tires as a good compromise of ride/durability/speed.

EDIT: Sorry missed the part about carbon rim compatibility. I will say that on my ENVE 3.4 I've ran regular Corsa G for a lot of km and I'm still here in one piece.

I think Conti GP5K might be too wide for you with the 21mm wide rim. I have those with 21.5mm wide and the external width is then. More than 30mm, 30.5 IIRC... I had never had flats with GP4K's and shortly after I started using GP5K's I had a few. So to me the puncture resistance is not as good as Power Competition, which is more supple and faster... I would like to try Corsa and maybe I will.

What size are you seeing that with? I ask because I have 28c 5kTLs on 25mm internal rims (Easton AX) and they measure out at 31mm. I'm considering some 21mm internal deep sections for road use and the question of tire width started to pop up for me as well. Had hoped the 28s were closer to true 28~29 on 21mm internals.

I just mounted 28c GP5K tires on Reynolds 41 wheels, 21mm internal width. They are at 29mm at 85 psi right now, waiting to be ridden for the first time.

Apologies for not remembering to add the width. It's the 28mm version. More details with a picture in Allez Sprint topic, page 94.
