There's a guy on FB in Germany who mods Sram and IIRC Campy levers to shift 12 and even 13 cogs. Seems to work fine. No idea if he mods the shifter drums or makes new ones.

Interesting because I want to build an Eagle 12x road bike for a friend but don't care for electronic shifting. I was about to look into 3d printing etc. but now I don't need to!

Didn't contact him yet.

Interesting. I remember on here some members make red 10 speed shifters work with 11 speed.

However as someone who rides a 42t chainring and a 11-42t 11 speed cassette on a road bike and think the jumps are just fine I'll give it a miss.

Same here, I'm riding 10-42 on the road, and 9-46 11x offroad. For my friend's bike, I wanted an Eagle cassette - but he doesn't really want to go offroad anyway.

Tried a 9 to 36 cassette. The 9t lasted a few hundred miles and it now toast. Not a fan of 9t or 10t start cassettes. Dont even like 11t for wear
12t start is better with a bigger chainring. Sadly everything is moving to smaller chainring and super wide range.

It depends on where you ride - if you're powering along in the 9 or 10t you need a larger chainring. I only use the 9 or 10 on fast descents.

I need the range here in Austria, too, and there are no 2x solutions that I like.

But I agree, if you can get the range you want, larger cogs are better.
