Just wanted to report that in chinese market there's news of fake Shimano Ultegra R8000 pedals being sold.
Don't know if it's via taobao or elsewhere.
Easy to spot the differences if you have an original on hand, otherwise they look rather close; one main clue is the big bolt which attach body pedal to spindle being totally black instead of silver.

edit: the black bolt I mentioned in original post seems to be also on some genuine Ultegra R8000 pedals.

One of the more obvious fakes for USD 55.

These look the same as Ultegra R8000 but they aren't but cheaper on Aliexpress: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32830968 ... 2fe7QDnllZ

Those aren't fakes, they're just cheap off-brand pedals.

If only any of these fit Favero Assioma's spindle, then we may finally have SPD-SL power pedals.

Ebay link says Racework SPD-SL Alloy Road Bicycle Pedals - PD-R800 for road bike.
Rockbros is a famous brand in China. They sell ~33usd. It's not Shimano.

Thanks for the headsup, Micky.

As long as they're not Shimano branded/logoed they are not fakes. And these pedals shown here are quite easy to spot as not Shimano.

I too would love spd-sl power pedals

OP is correct. Fake 5800 and R7000 pedals have been existed on xianyu, a second hand online market in china, for a long time. Though it's a second hand market, a lot of sellers sells brand new things on it at a lower price...

Now fake R8000 pedals appears. The fake ones cost around 60%. Some pics from weibo.

SPD-SL is so I’m sure once Shimano gets word those will be removed and rewritten. Also cleats are patented.

Theyve been selling the fake carbon pedals (5800/6800/8000) pedals on Aliexpress now for a few years. I'd imagine what Shimano are losing to fake sellers is pretty small when you consider the sheer size of the world market they have in all things biking. In many cases, they file law suits, the aliexpress seller shuts up his shop and re-opens another one under a different name.
