Had to change rear tyre the other day and noticed that the direction arrow is the opposite direction to the older front tyre in regards to the tread pattern. Have Conti changed their minds as to which direction these tyres should roll? The new one was bought some time a go as a spare but its newer than the front tyre.

You posted the same thing 3 years ago. Does it really bother you that much?

I rode GP4000s for years before I even realized that there were directional arrows!

Oh, shXt. I think I mounted in a wrong direction for my friend, as I judged it by the pattern only......

It doesn't matter how you mount it. They only have the arrows so people stop bugging them about which direction to mount the tyre.

Exactly. They said it was by far the most common "service request".
Therefore this

is because they only added the arrow when they went from the GP4000s to the GP4000sII to stop people calling them.

Where there's visible tread you need to mount the tyre in the way that looks good. That means any V shape has to point forward. Because that is fast whereas pointing backwards means it will slow you down.

It's quite obvious with gp5000 that it doesn't matter. The arrow on them goes the opposite way than the tread pattern would indicate. Water is pulled into the middle.

You've got a good memory, I had forgotten. Apologies for repeating myself. It probably bothers me as much as it would bother you.

I Googled for "4 seasons arrow" and his original post came up. I did think it was peculiar that he'd post the same thing three years apart.

Oddly some tires, I think Mavic Yksion Pro USTs do have different directional arrows on the same tire. "Front -->" and "<-- Rear"
