Campagnolo 11 / 12 speed compatibility
Moderator: robbosmans
The only issue between 11 and 12s cranksets is that pre-HO 11s are 7.6mm apart and 11HO/12s are 8.0mm. This affects the shifting on 12s mechanical FDs. EPS doesn't care.
I did not test to see if the difference was in the chainrings or the crank arms.

I got a reply from power2max today. They stated that their 4-arm cranksets are compatible with both 11 & 12 speed, which, according to them, is confirmed by Campagnolo. One should use 12-speed chain rings for 12 speed though.

Unfortunately not, as it is the previous 4-arm version (build when there was 11-speed). It no longer shows on their webpage. But as I understood them, all their 4-arm campagnolo cranksets work with both 11 and 12 speed mechanical. I know the cranksets are manufactured specificly for power2max, so who knows about spacing...
Similar question - my used bike came with 11 speed Super Record, 4 arm crankset (175, 50/34). I needed to change the crankset due to arm length hurting my knees and gearing, so I ended up with a 5 arm Super Record crankset in the correct size for me (172.5, 52/36). Finding the correct 4 arm 11 speed crankset has proven elusive. My question is if I can use a 12 speed crankset with everything else being 11 speed? While the current crankset functions great, I really prefer the newer 4 arm appearance.

The chainline is different as is the chanring spacing. Not so sure it's going to work very well despite people saying so on the interwebs.joeyb1000 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 3:04 amYes2000m2 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 5:18 pmSimilar question - my used bike came with 11 speed Super Record, 4 arm crankset (175, 50/34). Yes, you'll be fine.
As above, 11v rings will be fine.ChristianB wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:01 amI have an existing 11-speed Power2Max chainset (4-arm) that I would like to use with an upcomong 12 speed build. Is this possible? Can I use the 11-speed chainrings or should I install 12-speed?
Yup, good to go.2000m2 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 5:18 pmSimilar question - my used bike came with 11 speed Super Record, 4 arm crankset (175, 50/34). I'm not totally convinced this is true.RichTheRoadie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 7:54 am

The chainline and distance between chainrings on 12 speed (and for that matter Potenza HO 11 and Centaur 11) is 44.5 and 8mm respectively.
The 2015+ Chorus/Record/Super Record shifters and front mech are designed around 43.5 mm chainline with 7.6 mm spacing.
There's not a lot in it, sure, but whether or not it works may come down to frame size/spec. You'd definitely want to use a barrel adjusted with the front mech to dial it in.
From Praxis wb site 29nov 2021: CAMPY – Praxis rings shift great with the EPS and mechanical Campy 10/11/12sp drivetrains...

I've done it on a number of frames - it works perfectly well.robertbb wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 2:50 amI'm not totally convinced this is true.

I hope the Praxis rings are stiffer than the Campy 12 rings cause mine came in at 0.157kg with fasteners. They claim 0.158 52/36 not sure if fasteners included.

Hi, has anyone tried mounting 12s chainrings on 11s cranks?
