So Ritchey makes the WCS Logic II alloy handlebar, and advertises it as 233g for a 42cm version. I bought the 38cm version, and out of the box it came out at 244g. How can smaller handlebars be heavier? Even after I sanded off most of the paint to expose raw aluminum to save weight where bar tape will be wrapped, I still only managed to shave off 10 grams, putting the 38's at 234g (sanded around 70% of the paint) Only when chopped off the last 25mm of the drops did i manage to hit 222g for the 38's
Why are they so heavy? Well my guess is that they weighed the bars before they painted it with a thick layer of paint+clearcoat. It is durable, I'll give em' that; took me a while to sand off. But you can't just go and claim the weight of an unfinished product on its specs page, it would be like selling a cabinet with no drawer trays and calling it final. Either that or they cherry-picked their sample weight bar, both excuses would be pretty fraudulent imo.
Anyways. Something tells me this should count as false advertising, for the real weight to be so different from their claimed weight. I bought these handlebars specifically because the A. the spec sheet offered a weight advantage over most competitors, and B. they come in 38's (unlike 3T's 199 which I only found 42's for). Any weight-conscious buyer should and would mind if a product's weight was factored into their purchasing decision. My 2 cents

I hear 'ya.
Me, I tend to take all weight claims with a grain of salt and mentally add 10% to all manufacturer claims right off the bat before purchase.
I like WCS Ritchey stems, and love their Superlogic seatpost. All my stuff from them came out a little over claimed spec if memory serves, but I can't say Ritchey is any worse generally than most everyone else in this regard. And, that's to basically say the whole industry is full of crap regarding WW claims.
I use Vision Metron bars, so can't comment on the Ritchey offerings there, but given what you've said I'd be pissed too.

What's the deal with the listings section of the web site anyhow? Doesn't seem to have any weights from after 2012, is no one able to update it anymore?
I submitted the weight for a set of Deda Superzero alloy bars (a somewhat ironic 344g in size 42cm... thankfully I was buying for aero rather than weight....) a month or so ago and haven't heard anything (nor has it appeared in the listings).
