I'm running 11sp eTap on my gravel bike with a WiFli RD.
I've got a NW chainring and a chain guide bolted to the FD hanger, I'm not sure I really need it but it's a little extra insurance.

Ok,ok,but if I would like to go with 1x11 gearing, I understand I can install the NW chainring as a outer ring? Or do I have to buy 1x (Sram Force1 ) crankset?

A NW chainring is all you need for road riding. Don't worry about buying a new crankset. Any crankset will do as long as you buy a compatible NW chainring for your specific crank. I have a Shimano ultegra di2 1x 50t NW chainring that I sprint, climb, and everything in between. I've hit bumps while pedaling that I lose water bottle from my cages but my chain has yet to drop since I've first set up my 1x.

I have a Sram X-Sync 50T NW chainring mounted to my Red22 Crankset, where the outer ring would be
