Weight Weenies

I am torn. Spent another 1.5 h on the S Power and there was no sign of numbing at all, which is great. I also got used to the rising rear of the saddle, so no longer a problem I guess, but after some 40 or 50 minutes my sitting bones started aching quite a bit. I was doing a low cadence workout, so I didn't want to stand up, so I shifter quite a lot forward on the saddle, so that the contact between my sitting bones and the saddle was completely different and after a short time it was ok to sit in the original position again for some 15 minutes.

I don't think this is a deal breaker, especially as this was on trainer. What do you think? Should I quit my search for a better saddle and stick with the S Power? At least for some time. It definitely solves my biggest gripe - numb perineum. Even though the thing is almost as heavy as a brick.

I think a trainer exaggerates saddle 'issues'. I can't imagine (outside of a TT and I don't do those) when I'd be sat for 30-45 mins on the road. If it's solving what you wanted it to solve I'd stick with it for the road.

It does. Honestly, I rarely feel numbeness outdoors unless I sit at the edge for long periods of time

It's terrible on the trainer because theres longer periods youre in the saddle just hammering away seated

Anyway, I have an experiment coming up. See photo attached. Some AliExpress specials have come my way

So I managed to borrow Romin Evo and buy a cheap second hand Pro Stealth, so I'll try these two saddles. If neither is better than S Power, I will buy Power.

I have an sworks power on my Allez sprint and I’ve always felt like I’ve needed to scoot back during rides to get back on the seat. Contemplating if I need a longer nose saddle or if I need a better fit. Can’t really tell if I need the cut out or not cause I don’t feel much of that area being pressed in the gap if the seat. Any suggestions?

Moving your saddle forward will probably put your sitbones in the correct position. You are naturally sitting where you need to be but the comfy/intended part of the saddle where your sitbones/rami are further back so you are scooting back. Try moving the saddle forward a couple mm.

Longer saddle won't help you generally. You can try moving the saddle backwards as was suggested, but I rather think you should try playing with the saddle tilt a little bit, especially as you don't have any perineum problems. Try lifting the tip of the saddle 1 degree up and see.

Yep, it’s astonishing how much 1deg increments changes the feel of a saddle.

Thanks I’ll try that. Just didn’t want to changed things from my last “fit” and mess with my knee angles etc.

The whole thing with "cut-outs" and especially the really big cut-outs like the SLR Superflow which I use, is they are mostly intended for riders with great hip rotation and large bar drop. They work great and are super comfortable if you can maintain and ride in a flat-backed position. They are pretty terrible for more upright riders as you end up sitting right on the cut-out edges, and they are hard and cause quite a bit of chafing. The problem is a lot of recreational non aggressive position type riders buy the hell out of these types of saddles assuming they naturally must provide some relief when in fact they create a lot more discomfort than a non cut-out saddle would.

Hour and a half turbo session today and deliberately stayed say the whole time to really test the Dimension. Zero discomfort or numbness. Happy with that.

Don't get me wrong I haven't gotten any chafing or anything with the saddle. I must just need to move it forward like some suggested.

People typically get chafing from too wide of a flare or too wide of a nose, not the cutout.
