Technically, the R5 would be 3 years old by mid 2020, which might suggest a new one could be coming (ridden by pros @ mid 2020, available to consumers late 2020 or early 2021). However, Cervelo have not really followed "traditional" 3 year upgrade pattern for their bikes, and the current R5 is already a great bike. What it "lacks" (for some, not for all), is the "modern" front end integration and in practice it could be lighter (but that's what we should say just about all disc brake bikes).
Ex-bikes: Cube Aerium C68 SLT 2018 / Cervelo S5 2015 / Felt AR FRD 2014 / Cannondale SS HM 2014 / Scott Addict SL 2014 / Scott Plasma Premium 2014 / Orbea Orca 2008 / Look 596

I can't really imagine that the R5 is selling at all. I wouldn't know how anyone looking for a roadbike currently would choose the R5 over the Tarmac/Emonda/Teammachine/ Ultimate Evo etc.

That says a lot about how desirable the bike is atm.Unniti wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 2:38 pmBike24 has had 2019 R5 frames on sale at ~2k for ages now.FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:43 pmI can't really imagine that the R5 is selling at all. New one coming out soon...
R5 is very comparable to the SL6 and Ultimate. SL7 is a different question but thats not on sale yet.FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:43 pmI can't really imagine that the R5 is selling at all. It's got to be near the end of life now I would have thought.

I would for sure. R5 is available for 2000-2500 Euro (both rim and disc).FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:43 pmI can't really imagine that the R5 is selling at all. The fact that it is selling for a fraction of the cost the others proves, that it is a lot less desirable. The R5 is supposed to be on the level of Emonda SLR 9 and SW Tarmac.wheelsONfire wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:25 amI would for sure. Cervelo and Scott always appears on high discount sales. I'd never buy on of those for retail.
Alot of people also bough Factor 02 at -50%

But unlike many people think higher price doesn't actually mean that something is a better product. And a lower price doesn't mean inferiority. Besides there are disc and rim S-Works Tarmacs being sold at 2000 - 2500 euros also right now. So it's in the samish price bracket if you care about that, and the Ultimate CF SLX is about 2500 euros, though it does come with a one piece cockpit.FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:34 amThe fact that it is selling for a fraction of the cost the others proves, that it is a lot less desirable. It may not be selling as well but that probably has more to do with marketing done by the brands than the product quality. I've been looking at a new disc frame and the R5/Tarmac/Ultimate CF SLX are all in contention. Alongside with a few more candidates, maybe most notably the new Felt AR, honestly if the Felt frameset came in white like the full builds I would've probably gotten one already.
