I use a swat “saddle bag” and have noticed cracks due to drying out on my spare tube. Could I coat the tube in something to protect it? I found a site that had all the chemicals butyl can react with and how it reacts. Borax was unreactive, could I lightly powder my tubes?

Put some talcum powder on them and store them in a small plastic bag (think ziplock sandwich bag) and then put that in your seat pack.

The Swat is the one with the tube exposed? I'd also get a better saddle bag. UV exposure is probably causing most of the cracking.
