What I was getting at RE: the Italians is their reputation for poor QC and poor tolerances. It's quite possible you are both right and simply have tyres from different batches :)

Italians design really great stuff, but their manufacturing (and warranty/support) falls short. I include Campagnolo in this (lately). Some of their stuff I bought in the last few years the finish was absolutely dog-awful and it got sent back.
Funny you classify a whole country production QC as a whole, and still want to be taken serious. Troll no, uber troll.

inside to inside bead = 6cm, 2mm
outside to outside bead = 7cm, 3mm
