So based on the design of the old and new SL7 compression ring, how do we know that the Venge ring will not cause the same issues?

Simply because the Venge has been on the market since 2018 and there has never been a recall. If you are worried nonetheless, go check your steerer.

Re that shim, my guess at the reason for the change would be to avoid contact between the hoses/wires and the fork steerer at that point. But it's just a guess. Aligning the slot to the front might defeat the object of it as it would then align with the front hole and possibly allow contact.

If that is the reason why, I wonder if they'll do a recall to replace the old style ones.

Mine had the later version, January delivery to the dealer (UK).

Hey everybody - I have been debating buying one of the new 2022 SL7 frames, but with the current availability of parts and also winter coming up here in germany I wonder if it might be better to just wait for the next SL8, return of the Venge 2.0, Aethos refresh with integrated cables, or whatever the guys at Spesh might be thinking of.
Have you hard any rumors about new frames and / or what is your expectation for a new release? Do you expect a new model to be announced in August/September 2022 and launched in 2023?

The aethos is unlikely to get integrated cables, it's not part of the branding.

I doubt we'll see any massive change in performance any time soon even with the new models, and there's always something new and shiny just around the corner. The sl7 is a great bike to ride, it'll remain so - just like the sl6 is still a great bike.

So the SL6?

It's a good thing I hung on to that bike then.

Thanks for the kudos. :) :beerchug:

I think I guessed wrong about the reason for the redesign, but I'm still surprised at Spesh not acting more quickly. They had identified the need to revise the part, designed it, put it into production and shipped it with the frame to have it at the dealer in January, so when did that process start?

Hoping I can just get the dealer to send me a new plug, 5 minute job to fit, done 8)

If they woukd make an aethos with integrated cables it would immediately jump outside of my interest.
