2020 Specialized Tarmac SL7
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi everyone,
I'm adjusting my new bike that I just received (tarmac SL7 pro frame 54) and I could not set my saddle height at 72.5cm because of max insert of seatpost. The seatpost does noy go down anymore. Has anyone ever cut their seatpost ? Should I cut it ?
72.5cm saddle height on 54 frame is common I think, isn't it ?
Thank you !

Is that same for 12sp di2??? From the graph it looks like there should be a junction box near the BB. On the 12sp I thought RD and FD wires goes directly to the battery???
yea i have a 54 and run same seat height. i had to go back and cut mine after installing. very annoying. didn't have a guide big enough to hold seatpost either so had to eyeball the cut and then file it down to make it even. ridiculous they default to such a long post on this size imo. i guess they intend for you to buy the 30cm one after purchasing the frame.Takeswood wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 6:16 pmHi everyone,

Agree... Ridiculous because on minimal insert of seatpost the saddle height will go at 80cm+, who ride 80cm+ saddle height on 54cm frame ? Only few people I think...zmjones wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 2:03 amyea i have a 54 and run same seat height. i had to go back and cut mine after installing. very annoying. didn't have a guide big enough to hold seatpost either so had to eyeball the cut and then file it down to make it even. ridiculous they default to such a long post on this size imo. i guess they intend for you to buy the 30cm one after purchasing the frame.Takeswood wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 6:16 pmHi everyone,

No, for the 12-speed you don’t have the junction in the seatpost. If you don’t want to fully wire it (cables to the shifters), then you just need two cables that connect the battery to the RD and FD. Pretty easy to measure it, but it will definitely work with a 1000mm cable and a 600mm cable for almost every frame size.bikeaddict314 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 10:52 pmTakeswood wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 8:10 pmbikeaddict314 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 8:01 pmDoes anyone know the di2 cable lengths needed for the tarmac sl7?

Incorrect.
RD to Bat - 1200mm will work for all frame sizes up to 60cm, then you want to use 1400mm.
FD to Bat - Can use 500-700mm depending on ST length.

What to do if bought too long? Is it possible to wrap it around inside the frame?
Following a friend's recommendation, I bought 1600mm and 1000mm. After placing the order he did comment that I could possible have gone for shorters ones which I answered: and now you tell me that
I'd personally swap them out for correct lengths.
