For that type of difference they should go all-in in the ceremic bearings department, move to dtswiss 180 hubs, bb (this one checks), rear derailleur... The whole package.FlatlandClimber wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:23 pmWeird how frame and full bike are branded differently.
€10,000 difference between frame and full bike is also pretty laughable.
€2300 for the wheels
€3000 for a groupset
€1000 for a saddle, handlebar, tape, tires, BB, tubes (which would be super high).
Leaves you with over €3500 for the the fact that you get a little paint on wheels, saddle and bar tape...

Love, love, love that new red/black fade combo. The speed of light one is pretty cool too, but DAMN the pricing is just stupid effing crazy. We bought our kid a brand new Corolla, with less than 5miles, out the door for just over $15k. That thing should run for ~200,000 miles.
Guess I'll be riding my 2014 Tarmac Pro until the cabon delaminates because there is just no way I'm paying that much for a bike!

No one buys one for retail price so a 3500usd discount seems pretty legit, then it's break evenjencvo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 10:03 pmMaybe it comes with a home mechanic at this price point.pmprego wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:54 pmFor that type of difference they should go all-in in the ceremic bearings department, move to dtswiss 180 hubs, bb (this one checks), rear derailleur... Nice to see that Cav finally had his custom bike for the Roeselare criterium (not sure why the BikeRadar page is no longer working)
Do people get that much discount on a full build from Specialized? In my region they never have sales unless the next gen is released. And if no one pays retail for the bike in your region, I'd assume the same holds true for the frame.niklasp wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 11:50 amNo one buys one for retail price so a 3500usd discount seems pretty legit, then it's break evenjencvo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 10:03 pmMaybe it comes with a home mechanic at this price point.pmprego wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:54 pmFor that type of difference they should go all-in in the ceremic bearings department, move to dtswiss 180 hubs, bb (this one checks), rear derailleur... I find it easier to find discounts on components than framesets, so that 3.5k difference in price would be even greater. And that's before factoring in the fact that a stock bike rarely if ever includes the buyer's preferred handlebar width, stem length, saddle, tires, and possibly also crank length, chain ring size, cassette... If they charge more than retail for all the parts on a full build, it really should be fully custom.
But seriously. These frame prices are insane. And then the build prices are just dumb.
The price hike is probably down to the wheels, saddle, stem etc. not being standard, but rather gaving the fade as well or a logo (stem). Not sure it's worth the extra price, but it's probably down to that.

Wow.. that seems nice.. do you have more info on that ?woodyvalentine wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 12:59 amNew Pro one piece bar stem on Tarmac on FJ's bike. More action in this thread than the 2021 pro bike gear one.
The way it's wrapped is interesting. Just to the hoods and the seems to have a glued strip of something.
